Acoustic properties of plates with unevenly distributed macro perforations backed by woven meshes
2012
A hybrid model describing the acoustic properties of plates with macro-perforations that can be unevenly distributed on the plate surface and backed by woven or precision woven meshes with microscopic perforations is proposed. The plate perforations may be of circular or rectangular shapes. Since the perforated plate may not necessarily be considered as an equivalent fluid, its surface impedance is calculated by the Maa model [Noise Control Eng. J. 29, 77-84 (1987)], whereas the Johnson-Champoux-Allard model [J. Appl. Phys. 70, 1975-1979 (1991)] is used for the mesh. It is observed that the absorption of the carrying plate seems to depend on the hydraulic diameter of the perforations and no…
Sport commitment and adherence: A social-cognitive analysis. (Compromiso deportivo y adherencia: Un análisis cognitivo social).
2011
Abstract Statement of problem: This study aimed to analyse the ability of a model based on achievement motivation and self-determination theories to predict adherence to competitive sport. This model incorporated commitment as predictor of adherence. A prospective study was performed with a sample of 302 handball players aged between 14 and 18 years. Structural equation modelling gave support to the model proposed. It was verified the sequence of relationships between perceptions of coach-created mastery climate, psychological needs, self-determined motivation, commitment, and adherence. The major contribution of the study was to confirm a motivational model of adherence based on social-cog…
Application Development from Prototype to Beta : A Case Study of the Application SeafarerCV
2018
Master's thesis Multimedia and Educational Technology MM500 - University of Agder 2018 When the prototype of a software product is completed and approved, development of a betaready resource is often the natural step toward a future final release. This process contains many steps that may prove vital to the eventual success or downfall of a future product. Technologies must be chosen, design methodologies must be followed, and care must be given to provide the final product with a solid foundation to build upon. This thesis follows such a development process for the development of resources for beta-testing. This process, as well as the human centered design approaches, and the resulting re…
Spectral calibration of hyperspectral imagery using atmospheric absorption features
2006
One of the initial steps in the preprocessing of remote sensing data is the atmospheric correction of the at-sensor radiance images, i.e., radiances recorded at the sensor aperture. Apart from the accuracy in the estimation of the concentrations of the main atmospheric species, the retrieved surface reflectance is also influenced by the spectral calibration of the sensor, especially in those wavelengths mostly affected by gaseous absorptions. In particular, errors in the surface reflectance appear when a systematic shift in the nominal channel positions occurs. A method to assess the spectral calibration of hyperspectral imaging spectrometers from the acquired imagery is presented in this p…
Ferromagnetic ordering in GdPdCd
2010
Abstract GdPdCd was obtained in pure form via reaction of the elements in a sealed tantalum tube in a high-frequency furnace. The structure was investigated by X-ray diffraction on both powders and single crystals: ZrNiAl type, P 6 2m , a=758.2(1), c=391.78(7) pm, wR2=0.0410 for 358 F2 values and 14 variables. Striking structural motifs of GdPdCd are two types of palladium-centered tricapped trigonal prisms [Pd1Cd3Gd6] and [Pd2Cd6Gd3]. Together the palladium and cadmium atoms build a three-dimensional network in which the gadolinium atoms fill distorted pentagonal channels. Susceptibility measurements reveal Curie–Weiss behaviour with an effective magnetic moment of 8.2(1) μB/Gd. GdPdCd ord…
SmartCrowding™ : Bruk av SmartCrowding™ i komplekse situasjoner ved Stavanger Universitetssykehus
2019
Masteroppgave helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Background: Over the past years, over-filled hospital wards, critical and complex situations has created an increased amount of difficulties in Norwegian hospitals. This is also true for Stavanger University Hospital. In order to better tradethese challenging situations, Stavanger University Hospital decided to implement «plan for høy aktivitet»(«plan for high activity»), and «Smartcrowding™» as Multi Criteria Decision Analyses Software. The intended purpose of these tools is to ensure a higher level of patient safety, as well as to generate a common understandingof the activity level at Stavanger University Hospi…
Kan brist i alarmkjeden unngås? : Delphistudie med funn av faktorer som er viktige for kvalitetssikring i et velferdsteknologisk responssenter
2016
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk- Universitetet i Agder, 2016 The future brings with it an increased number of elderly in need of aid or assistance. One way of meeting these challenges is an increased usage of healthcare technological solutions. Through media, it is illustrated that there have been several unfortunate incidents related to the handling of personal alarm systems. This has happened not only when receiving an alarm at the responsecenter, but also with the turn-out at the place of emergency. The goal with this study is to identify important factors that are necessary to secure the quality at the responsecenters when the alarms are received and how they are forwarded a…
Search for intermediate mass black hole binaries in the first and second observing runs of the Advanced LIGO and Virgo network
2019
Gravitational wave astronomy has been firmly established with the detection of gravitational waves from the merger of ten stellar mass binary black holes and a neutron star binary. This paper reports on the all-sky search for gravitational waves from intermediate mass black hole binaries in the first and second observing runs of the Advanced LIGO and Virgo network. The search uses three independent algorithms: two based on matched filtering of the data with waveform templates of gravitational wave signals from compact binaries, and a third, model-independent algorithm that employs no signal model for the incoming signal. No intermediate mass black hole binary event was detected in this sear…
Saproxylic beetle assemblages in the Mediterranean region:Impact of forest management on richness and structure
2010
Forests cover almost 30% of the Mediterranean region today, yet forest management activities have influenced structure and composition of both natural and planted forests. To date no study has been conducted to evaluate the impact of forest management on saproxylic beetle assemblages, although it is known that the Mediterranean is a biodiversity hotspot with a long-lasting human pressure on natural habitats. We provide an overview of saproxylic beetle assemblages of three forest types (mature Pinus halepensis forests, mature Pinus brutia forests, young Quercus calliprinos forests) in the East Mediterranean region using a one-year sample from 12 forest plots located in the north of Israel. T…
Hill Runner's Physiology, Performance and Nutrition: A Descriptive Study.
2021
Objectives: The aim of this descriptive study was to characterise anthropometric variables, aerobic capacity, running performance and energy intake and expenditure of hill runners in free-living conditions, and to investigate the relationship between age, anthropometric variables, aerobic capacity and running performance. Methods: Twenty-eight hill runners participated in this study (17 males and 11 females; aged 18–65 years). Body fat percentage estimate, sum of eight skinfolds (triceps, subscapular, biceps, iliac crest, supraspinale, abdominal, front thigh and medial calf) and maximal oxygen capacity (VO2max) were assessed in a laboratory setting. Participants also completed a timed hill r…
