Evaluation of Permeate Quality in Pilot Scale Membrane Distillation Systems

In this work, the salinity of permeate obtained with membrane distillation (MD) in pilot scale systems was analyzed. Experiments were performed with three different spiral-wound commercial modules, one from Solar Spring with 10 m2 surface membrane area and two from Aquastill with 7.2 and 24 m2. About Leibniz cohomology and deformations of Lie algebras

We compare the second adjoint and trivial Leibniz cohomology spaces of a Lie algebra to the usual ones by a very elementary approach. The comparison gives some conditions, which are easy to verify for a given Lie algebra, for deciding whether it has more Leibniz deformations than just the Lie ones. We also give the complete description of a Leibniz (and Lie) versal deformation of the 4-dimensional diamond Lie algebra, and study the case of its 5-dimensional analogue.

AbstractHeat shock protein 27 (HSP27) is a chaperone whose cellular expression increases in response to various stresses and protects the cell either by inhibiting apoptotic cell death or by promoting the ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of specific proteins. Here, we show that globin transcription factor 1 (GATA-1) is a client protein of HSP27. In 2 models of erythroid differentiation; that is, in the human erythroleukemia cell line, K562 induced to differentiate into erythroid cells on hemin exposure and CD34+ human cells ex vivo driven to erythroid differentiation in liquid culture, depletion of HSP27 provokes an accumulation of GATA-1 and impairs terminal maturation.
