Temporal frames of 45S rDNA site-number variation in diploid plant lineages: lessons from the rock rose genus Cistus (Cistaceae)
2016
The perception that the turnover of 45S rDNA site number in plants is highly dynamic pervades the literature on rDNA evolution. However, most reported evidences come from the study of polyploid systems and from crop species subjected to intense agronomic selection. In sharp contrast with polyploids, the evolutionary patterns of rDNA loci number in predominantly diploid lineages have received less attention. Most studies on rDNA loci changes lack explicit temporal frames, and hence their dynamics could not be assessed. Here, we assess the temporal patterns of rDNA site evolution in Cistus, an entirely diploid lineage. We assessed the number and chromosomal position of 45S rDNA loci in Cistus…
Responsiveness and Minimal Clinically Important Difference of the Five Times Sit-to-Stand Test in Patients with Stroke
2021
This study aimed to analyze the responsiveness of the 5STS test among stroke patients and to estimate the MCIDs (minimal clinically important differences) for different severity levels of community ambulation and stages of recovery. The 5STS and comparator instruments (gait speed and Functional Ambulatory Category (FAC)) were evaluated at baseline. These measures were repeated at 4 (Stage 1) and 8 weeks (Stage 2), together with the Global Rating of Change (GROC). The MCIDs were calculated with two anchor-based methods using the GROC as the external criterion. Responsiveness to change for the 5STS was estimated analyzing the correlation with changes in the two comparator instruments and thei…

Phylogenetic relationship of the green alga Nanochlorum eukaryotum deduced from its chloroplast rRNA sequences.
1995
The marine green coccoidal alga Nanochlorum eukaryotum (N.e.) is of small size with an average diameter of 1.5 microns. It is characterized by primitive-appearing biochemical and morphological properties, which are considerably different from those of other green algae. Thus, it has been proposed that N.e. may be an early developed algal form. To prove this hypothesis, DNA of N.e. was isolated by a phenol extraction procedure, and the chloroplast DNA separated by preparative CsCl density-gradient centrifugation. The kinetic complexity of the nuclear and of the chloroplast DNA was evaluated by reassociation kinetics to 3 x 10(7) bp and 9 x 10(4) bp, respectively. Several chloroplast genes, i…
Positivity, complex FIOs, and Toeplitz operators
2018
International audience; We establish a characterization of complex linear canonical transformations that are positive with respect to a pair of strictly plurisubharmonic quadratic weights. As an application, we show that the boundedness of a class of Toeplitz operators on the Bargmann space is implied by the boundedness of their Weyl symbols.
Fast protocols for the 5S rDNA and ITS-2 based identification ofOenococcus oeni
2005
To identify specific marker sequences for the rapid identification of Oenococcus oeni, we sequenced the 23S-5S internal transcribed spacer (ITS-2) region and the 5S rDNA of five different O. oeni strains and three phylogenetically related lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Comparative analysis revealed 100% identity among the ITS-2 region of the O. oeni strains and remarkable differences in length and sequence compared to related LAB. These results enabled us to develop a primer set for a rapid PCR-identification of O. oeni within three hours. Moreover, the comparison of the 5S rDNA sequences and the highly conserved secondary structure provided the template for the design of three fluorescence-la…
Chromosomal localization and molecular characterization of three different 5S ribosomal DNA clusters in the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus
2007
In this paper the chromosomal localization and molecular cloning and characterization of three 5S rDNA clusters of 700 bp (base pairs), 900 bp, and 950 bp in the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus are reported. Southern blot hybridization demonstrated the existence of three 5S rDNA repeats of differing length in the P. lividus genome. Fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis, performed in parallel on both haploid and diploid metaphases and interphase nuclei using different 5S rDNA units as probes, localized these 5S rDNA clusters in 3 different pairs of P. lividus chromosomes. This is the first complete gene mapping not only in a sea urchin but also in the phylum of echinoderms as a whole…
