Prompt Determination of the Mechanical Properties of Industrial Polypropylene Sandwich Pipes

A simple and prompt method to determine the mechanical properties of industrial multilayer extrusion polypropylene pipes for a gravity sewer network is suggested. The engineering formulas included for calculating the permissible thickness and relative position of a foam core in the pipes are based on a linear-elastic approximation and the rule of mixtures. The applicability of the approximation was justified experimentally during investigation of the effective tensile characteristics of single- and multilayer pipes and each layer specimen by using traditional tests and finite-element calculations. En este artículo analizamos las luchas epistemológicas y retos que ha tenido el movimiento social en la subcuenca del río Grande frente a los diversos proyectos modernizadores que intentan transferir el agua rural hacia la ciudad de Málaga. El primero asociado a la construcción de un gran embalse y el segundo con la modernización de los sistemas de riego tradicionales. Anatomic and functional follow-up of patients with an idiopathic epiretinal membrane and a preserved visual acuity

Purpose: To determine the anatomic and functional retinal modifications in patients with an idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) and a preserved visual acuity (VA).Methods: Monocentric, prospective study in 24 eyes of 24 patients with an ERM and a VA better than 20/25. Recorded data were best corrected VA on ETDRS scale, retinal anatomic lesions on spectral-domain OCT, retinal sensitivities on microperimetry and macular and foveal thicknesses at 0 and 6 months.Results: At inclusion, mean VA was 84 ± 5 letters, mean macular sensitivity was 14.0 ± 1.4 decibels (dB) and mean foveal sensitivity was 14,4 ± 1,5 dB. Electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic with nanomodified matrix for damage diagnostic

The electrical conductivity of glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) with epoxy matrix modified by multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) was studied. The electrical conductivity of nanomodified lamina and multi-layered GFRP was investigated on several levels using a structural approach. Components of the electrical conductivity tensor for unidirectional-reinforced monolayer were calculated similarly as in micromechanics using the conductivity of the nanomodified matrix. In contemporary societies we are witnessing an expansion of the messages of human capital. These messages have as their central dimension idea of the self-entrepreneur, which implies a deepening in the logic of activation, while blurring the wage relations. In this scenario, young people with university degrees are becoming a favourite target in the offensive of human capital. The penetration of these human capital messages can be seen in the discourses of young university students who have been forced to leave the country during the crisis. A very flexible and efficient computer-aided design (CAD) tool, specifically suited for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters, is presented in this work. The developed software tool, which makes use of a full-wave analysis technique based on the Boundary Integral - Resonant Mode Expansion method, permits to load the considered comb-line resonators with any number of radially symmetrical partial-height metallic posts. In the systematic search for phylogenetically conserved proteins in the simplest and most ancient extant metazoan phylum – Porifera, we have identified and analyzed a cDNA encoding the signal recognition particle 54 kD protein (SRP54) from the marine sponge Geodia cydonium (Demospongiae). The signal recognition particle (SRP) is a universally conserved ribonucleoprotein complex of a very ancient origin, comprising SRP RNA and several proteins (six in mammals). The nucleotide sequence of the sponge cDNA predicts a protein of 499 amino acid residues with a calculated Mr of 55175.
