Effects of PET packaging on the quality of an orange juice made from concentrate

An orange juice made from concentrate was conditioned in three different PET (PolyEthylene Terephtalate) and glass packagings. Influence of storage conditions (length of storage, light, oxygen) on vitamin C content, browning index, and colour were measured. Results show that permeability to oxygen of PET packagings is the major factor detrimentally affecting the above parameters.

Populations at species' range margins are expected to show lower genetic diversity than populations at the core of the range. Yet, long-lived, widespread tree species are expected to be resistant to genetic impoverishment, thus showing comparatively high genetic diversity within populations and low differentiation among populations. The symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method is used to address a class of strain gradient elastic materials featured by a free energy function of the (classical) strain and of its (first) gradient. With respect to the classical elasticity, additional response variables intervene, such as the normal derivative of the displacements on the boundary, and the work-coniugate double tractions. Objectives: We performed a reanalysis of the data from Navarro et al., 2003, in which health symptoms related to microwave exposure from mobile phone base stations (BS) were explored, including data obtained in a retrospective inquiry about fear of exposure from BS. Design: Cross-sectional study. Setting: La Ñora (Murcia), Spain.
