Impact of the terrestrial reference frame on the determination of the celestial reference frame.

Currently three up-to-date Terrestrial Reference Frames (TRF) are available, the ITRF2014 from IGN, the DTRF2014 from DGFI-TUM, and JTRF2014 from JPL. All use the identical input data of space-geodetic station positions and Earth orientation parameters, but the concept of combining these data is fundamentally different. The IGN approach is based on the combination of technique solutions, while the DGFI is combining the normal equation systems. Both yield in reference epoch coordinates and velocities for a global set of stations. JPL uses a Kalman filter approach, realizing a TRF through weekly time series of geocentric coordinates. Resonance in Interacting Induced-Dipole Polarizing Force Fields: Application to Force-Field Derivatives

The Silberstein model of the molecular polarizability of diatomic molecules, generalized by Applequist et al. for polyatomic molecules, is analyzed. The atoms are regarded as isotropically polarizable points located at their nuclei, interacting via the fields of their induced dipoles. The use of additive values for atom polarizabilities gives poor results, in some cases leading to artificial predictions of absorption bands. The molecular polarizability of methane and its derivative are computed. The agreement with experimental mean molecular polarizabilities is within 1–5%. A hypothesis is indispensable for a suitable representation of polarizability derivative.

The disappearance of the so-called «real socialism» has concealed the validity of the Marxist analysis of social reality. One of the sets of hypotheses that has best maintained its heuristic capacity is the Marxist theory of needs. The Marxist hypotheses have been developed in debate with other conventional conceptions. Currently, feminism and the ecological analysis of needs are renewing the views of Heller and Habermas.
Two examples related to conical energies

In a recent article we introduced and studied conical energies. We used them to prove three results: a characterization of rectifiable measures, a characterization of sets with big pieces of Lipschitz graphs, and a sufficient condition for boundedness of nice singular integral operators. In this note we give two examples related to sharpness of these results. One of them is due to Joyce and M\"{o}rters, the other is new and could be of independent interest as an example of a relatively ugly set containing big pieces of Lipschitz graphs.
