Abstract Once deposited, radiocesium remains in the environment for a long time, and constantly enters the food chain. Over time, game species tend to accumulate 137Cs by two orders of magnitude more than farm animals. This occurs especially in places heavily contaminated, thus meat products made out of local game should be treated with caution. One of such areas, known as the Opole Anomaly, is located in South-Western Poland and represents one of most 137Cs contaminated regions across Europe after the Chernobyl accident. Abstract The European Regulation no 2037/2000 has banned manufacturing HCFC refrigerants from January 1st 2010, although its use is allowed up to 2015 if the fluids come from a recycling process. This situation creates the need for developing new working fluids to replace the HCFC in the refrigeration plants now in operation. Among all the HCFCs the R22 is the most widely used in a wide range of applications, especially in air conditioning. Aperiodic chain recurrence classes of $C^1$-generic diffeomorphisms

We consider the space of $C^1$-diffeomorphims equipped with the $C^1$-topology on a three dimensional closed manifold. It is known that there are open sets in which $C^1$-generic diffeomorphisms display uncountably many chain recurrences classes, while only countably many of them may contain periodic orbits. The classes without periodic orbits, called aperiodic classes, are the main subject of this paper. The aim of the paper is to show that aperiodic classes of $C^1$-generic diffeomorphisms can exhibit a variety of topological properties. Weak separation condition, Assouad dimension, and Furstenberg homogeneity

We consider dimensional properties of limit sets of Moran constructions satisfying the finite clustering property. Just to name a few, such limit sets include self-conformal sets satisfying the weak separation condition and certain sub-self-affine sets. In addition to dimension results for the limit set, we manage to express the Assouad dimension of any closed subset of a self-conformal set by means of the Hausdorff dimension. As an interesting consequence of this, we show that a Furstenberg homogeneous self-similar set in the real line satisfies the weak separation condition. We also exhibit a self-similar set which satisfies the open set condition but fails to be Furstenberg homogeneous.

Random cutout sets with spatially inhomogeneous intensities

We study the Hausdorff dimension of Poissonian cutout sets defined via inhomogeneous intensity measures on Ahlfors-regular metric spaces. We obtain formulas for the Hausdorff dimension of such cutouts in self-similar and self-conformal spaces using the multifractal decomposition of the average densities for the natural measures.

Abstract The uppermost 50 cm of sediments from the 23 m deep lacustrine basin of Nurmijarvi, a lake in south-central Finland, are composed of the clastic-biogenic type of varves. We use multiple dating methods to render a sediment chronology that is as precise and accurate as possible for future paleoenvironmental research on this high-fidelity sedimentary archive. The 250-year-long varve chronology contains a chronological error of ±2%, as estimated based on repeated varve counts. Normal forms and embeddings for power-log transseries

First return maps in the neighborhood of hyperbolic polycycles have their asymptotic expansion as Dulac series, which are series with power-logarithm monomials. We extend the class of Dulac series to an algebra of power-logarithm transseries. Inside this new algebra, we provide formal normal forms of power-log transseries and a formal embedding theorem. The questions of classifications and of embeddings of germs into flows of vector fields are common problems in dynamical systems. Aside from that, our motivation for this work comes from fractal analysis of orbits of first return maps around hyperbolic polycycles. Internal perturbations of homoclinic classes:non-domination, cycles, and self-replication

Conditions are provided under which lack of domination of a homoclinic class yields robust heterodimensional cycles. Moreover, so-called viral homoclinic classes are studied. Viral classes have the property of generating copies of themselves producing wild dynamics (systems with infinitely many homoclinic classes with some persistence). Such wild dynamics also exhibits uncountably many aperiodic chain recurrence classes. A scenario (related with non-dominated dynamics) is presented where viral homoclinic classes occur.
