Graded Carrier Concentration Absorber Profile for High Efficiency CIGS Solar Cells

2015

We demonstrate an innovative CIGS-based solar cells model with a graded doping concentration absorber profile, capable of achieving high efficiency values. In detail, we start with an in-depth discussion concerning the parametrical study of conventional CIGS solar cells structures. We have used the wxAMPS software in order to numerically simulate cell electrical behaviour. By means of simulations, we have studied the variation of relevant physical and chemical parameters-characteristic of such devices-with changing energy gap and doping density of the absorber layer. Our results show that, in uniform CIGS cell, the efficiency, the open circuit voltage, and short circuit current heavily depe…

Thin-Film Photovoltaics 2014

2015

The interest toward alternative energy sources to fossil fuels (still the most convenient in terms of efficiency and cost) is current. Initiatives that seek to convert wind, geothermal energy, hydropower, marine, solar thermal energy, and photovoltaics or derived from biomass energy into other forms continue to involve several research groups. For example, the transfer from solar energy into electricity, which in turn can be used for water splitting and for the subsequent production of hydrogen, seems a major challenge to provide a sustainable contribution to the “Earth system” together with the realization of devices having high conversion efficiencies, low environmental impact, and low pr…

Progress in Violet Light-Emitting Diodes Based on ZnO/GaN Heterojunction

2020

Progress in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on ZnO/GaN heterojunctions has run into several obstacles during the last twenty years. While both the energy bandgap and lattice parameter of the two semiconductors are favorable to the development of such devices, other features related to the electrical and structural properties of the GaN layer prevent an efficient radiative recombination. This work illustrates some advances made on ZnO/GaN-based LEDs, by using high-thickness GaN layers for the p-region of the device and an ad hoc device topology. Heterojunction LEDs consist of a quasicoalesced non-intentionally doped ZnO nanorod layer deposited by chemical bath deposition onto a metal&ndash

Performance Study of Split Ferrite Cores Designed for EMI Suppression on Cables

2020

The ideal procedure to start designing an electronic device is to consider the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) from the beginning. Even so, EMC problems can appear afterward, especially when the designed system is interconnected with external devices. Thereby, electromagnetic interferences (EMIs) could be transmitted to our device from power cables that interconnect it with an external power source or are connected to another system to establish wired communication. The application of an EMI suppressor such as a sleeve core that encircles the cables is a widely used technique to attenuate EM disturbances. This contribution is focused on the characterization of a variation of this cable …

Crystal Reorientation and Amorphization Induced by Stressing Efficient and Stable P–I–N Vacuum‐Processed MAPbI 3 Perovskite Solar Cells

2021

Herein, the long-term stability of vacuum-deposited methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI(3)) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of around 19% is evaluated. A low-temperature atomic layer deposition (ALD) Al2O3 coating is developed and used to protect the MAPbI(3) layers and the solar cells from environmental agents. The ALD encapsulation enables the MAPbI(3) to be exposed to temperatures as high as 150 degrees C for several hours without change in color. It also improves the thermal stability of the solar cells, which maintain 80% of the initial PCEs after aging for approximate to 40 and 37days at 65 and 85 degrees C, respectively. However, room-temperature…

Doped TiO2 Nanomaterials and Applications

2008

This special issue brieflyreviews some trends and factors that have impacted heterogeneous photocatalysis with next generation TiO2 nanophotocatalysts that could absorband make use of both UV (290–400 nm) and visible (400–700 nm) sunlight to enhance process efficiencies, along with some issues of current debate in the fundamental understanding of the science that underpins the field. Preparative methods and some characteristics features of doped TiO2 as well as its environmental applications are presented and described. The next generation of doped TiO2 photocatalysts should enhance overall process photoefficiencies in many cases, since doped TiO2s absorb a greater quantity of solar radiati…

Dynamics of paramagnetic nanostructured rods under rotating field

2011

International audience; The dynamical rotational behavior of magnetic nanostructured rods based on the auto-association of maghemite nanoparticles and block-copolymers is probed by optical microscopy under rotating fields i n a s imple l iquid. The reorientation of the rods by a field rotated by 90° is first studied. The measured relaxation is characteristic of param-agnetic objects. Under a stationnary rotating field, a synchronous rotational regime is observed at low field frequency. Above a frequency threshold which scales as H^2 , the dynamics becomes asynchronous with back-and-forth rotations. These behaviors are well predicted by the presented model.
