Artikkelissa tarkastellaan puutarhaviljelyn yleistymistä ja puutarhaneuvonnan vastaanottoa maamme syrjäseudulla 1900-luvun aikana. Suomalaisen puutarhakulttuurin ydinalue sijoittuu Etelä- ja Lounais-Suomeen, jossa väestön varallisuus, sivistystaso ja ilmasto mahdollistivat puutarhaviljelyn esimerkiksi kartanoissa jo varhain. Myös pappiloiden ja virkatalojen tiheä verkosto sekä julkiset istutukset edesauttoivat sekä kasvien että viljelytaitojen leviämistä kaikkiin kansankerroksiin. Jorge Eduardo Eielson is a well-known poet and plastic artist, but his narrative works remain little-known, even in his native Peru. El cuerpo de Giulia-no is a discontinous and elusive text. Written in the 1950s but not published until 1971 in Mexico, it is an undoubtedly innovative work which thwarts the readers’s expectations with its fragmentary composition, elliptical tendencies, and the underlying dislogue amongst literature, visual arts and science running throughout the text. Contextualized within narrative theory and the field of talent identification and development systems (TIDS), this interview study examined strained junior elite performers’ experiences of becoming elite performers while participating in prestigious national TIDS. The study explored how junior elite performers perceive and negotiate their personal narratives of becoming within a cultural master narrative of being. The focus is on how the quality of person-environment interaction, characterized by narrative alignment or tensions, relates to perceptions of identity, agency, and physical and mental health.
