Beta-N-oxalylamino-L-alanine (BOAA) and beta-N-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) are two non-protein amino acids reported to induce neuronal degeneration. They have been involved in the pathogenesis of rare motor neuron diseases, as neurolathyrism or the ALS-Parkinson-Dementia complex of Guam. The mechanisms by which BOAA and BMAA toxicity is explicated is still unknown, but there is evidence that it might involve the inhibition of Xc¯ antiporter, that is the rate-limiting transporter of the synthesis of intracellular glutathione. Preparation and Characterization of P2 BCh Ring Systems (Ch=S, Se) and Their Reactivity with N-Heterocyclic Carbenes

Four-membered rings with a P2BCh core (Ch = S, Se) have been synthesized via reaction of phosphinidene chalcogenide (Ar*P=Ch) and phosphaborene (Mes*P=BNR2). The mechanistic pathways towards these rings are explained by detailed computational work that confirmed the preference for the formation of P–P, not P–B, bonded systems, which seems counterintuitive given that both phosphorus atoms contain bulky ligands. The reactivity of the newly synthesized heterocycles, as well as that of the known (RPCh)n rings (n = 2, 3), was probed by the addition of Nheterocyclic carbenes, which revealed that all investigated compounds can act as sources of low-coordinate phosphorus species. peerReviewed

Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan BRIC-maiden harjoittamaa rahapolitiikkaa vuosina 2005-2015. Tutkielman päämääränä on selvittää, ovatko keskuspankit reagoineet rahapolitiikallaan inflaation ja tuotantokuilun lisäksi myös rahoitusmarkkinainformaatioon. Aineistona on käytetty reaaliaikaista aineistoa inflaation ja tuotantokuilun osalta. Rahoitusmarkkinainformaatiolla tarkoitetaan tutkielmassa kohdemaan valuuttakurssia ja keskimääräistä osinkotuottoa. Rahapolitiikkaa on arvioitu sekä sen hetkisten että eteenpäin katsovien Taylorin sääntöjen avulla. Endophytic bacteria are well known in modern microbiology. Their role is well recognized, although there are lots of questions to answer. According to the knowledge that we actually possess it is possible to use them as components of biocide preparations used in plant growing.
