Thin obstacle problem : Estimates of the distance to the exact solution

We consider elliptic variational inequalities generated by obstacle type problems with thin obstacles. For this class of problems, we deduce estimates of the distance (measured in terms of the natural energy norm) between the exact solution and any function that satisfies the boundary condition and is admissible with respect to the obstacle condition (i.e., they are valid for any approximation regardless of the method by which it was found). Computation of the estimates does not require knowledge of the exact solution and uses only the problem data and an approximation. Koulutusosaamisen viennistä tulee kehittää yksi Suomen tulevaisuuden tärkeimmistä vientituotteista. Näin kaavailtiin vuonna 2010 julkaistussa opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön raportissa (OKM 2010). Tutkimuksen tehtävänä on selvittää, millaista retoriikkaa Suomen jatkosodan aikaiset pääministerit JW Rangell sekä Edwin Linkomies puheissaan käyttivät. Tarkastelen tutkimuskysymystä analysoimalla kaksi puhetta, joista toisen puheen piti Rangell syksyllä 1941. Toinen on Linkomiehen kesällä 1944 pitämä puhe. Analysoin puheet erittäin tarkasti käyttämällä metodina valtio-opin alalla yleistä argumentaatioanalyysia. This article focuses on religiousness and spirituality in the art works of psychiatric patients of Nikkilä Hospital, Finland. The pictures analysed here belong to a collection held at the Helsinki City Museum and they were made during the twentieth century. The theoretical frame of the study is a cultural study of mental health. This research explored rural state school teachers’ perceptions concerning parental involvement in children’s education in a developing country context. The data were collected through thematic interviews with teachers of public schools situated in the rural areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan. Cloud screening with combined MERIS and AATSR images

This paper presents a cloud screening algorithm based on ensemble methods that exploits the combined information from both MERIS and AATSR instruments on board ENVISAT in order to improve current cloud masking products for both sensors. The first step is to analyze the synergistic use of MERIS and AATSR images in order to extract some physically-based features increasing the separability of clouds and surface.
