Innovativeness and Family-Firm Performance: The Moderating Effect of Family Commitment

2016

The positive relationship between innovativeness and firm performance is well established and applies equally to all businesses, including family firms. However, little is yet known about how the unique characteristics of family firms influence this relationship. Drawing upon the resource-based view (RBV) of the firm, this study explains how the interplay between innovativeness as a firm-specific resource and family commitment as a family-specific resource affects performance. The analysis of longitudinal survey data collected from Finnish family firms demonstrates a curvilinear (U-shaped) moderating effect of the owner family’s commitment to the firm, in that the impact of innovativeness o…

Rehabilitative treatment proposals in pediatric non-verbal syndrome

2017

Nonverbal learning disability (NVLD) can be defined as a specific learning disorder peculiar for deficits in non-verbal area, such as visuospatial and visuo-constructive difficulties, fine motor coordination impairments, and poor mathematics achievement, associated with well-developed language skills. aim of the present work is suggesting rehabilitative proposal for management treatment of NVLD in pediatric age tailored on children and based on EBM.

Cluster and firm-specific antecedents of organizational innovation

2016

Based on the idea of the tourist destination as a cluster, this paper proposes a model to explain the relationships between exploration and exploitation capabilities – whether originating in the cluster or firm-specific – and a firm’s organizational innovation. This study turns to the resource-based view to provide a theory-based concept of shared capabilities accumulated in a tourist destination or cluster, together with valid measurement instruments to capture them. Our conceptual model highlights the theoretical and practical benefits for firms of being embedded in a cluster to develop both exploration and exploitation capabilities. The study also analyses the interaction between cluster…

METALANG. Protocolo franco-español de exploración de habilidades metalingüísticas en niños de 6 a 9 años: un estudio preliminar

2012

International audience; In this work are described the principles of functional-pragmatic and the reasons for developing an exploration protocol for natural metalinguistic abilities. This study explains the base hypothesis and structure of METALANG protocol. This protocol consists in a Test and a Questionnaire for parents with two different scales: A = Ability, B = Frequency. Each element of the protocol has 6 sections and 40 items. It is performed a preliminary contrast with 12 subjects aged 6 to 9 years. Among the 12 subjects, 4 were diagnosed with dysphasia. METALANG shows high scores in reliability and internal consistency. This result confirms the hypothesis that it is possible a joint…

A New Nonparametric Estimate of the Risk-Neutral Density with Applications to Variance Swaps

2021

We develop a new nonparametric approach for estimating the risk-neutral density of asset prices and reformulate its estimation into a double-constrained optimization problem. We evaluate our approach using the S\&P 500 market option prices from 1996 to 2015. A comprehensive cross-validation study shows that our approach outperforms the existing nonparametric quartic B-spline and cubic spline methods, as well as the parametric method based on the Normal Inverse Gaussian distribution. As an application, we use the proposed density estimator to price long-term variance swaps, and the model-implied prices match reasonably well with those of the variance future downloaded from the CBOE websi…

Psychometric properties of the measure of achieved capabilities in homeless services

2023

Background Purposeful participation in personally meaningful life tasks, enjoyment of positive reciprocal relationships, and opportunities to realize one’s potential are growth-related aspects of a meaningful life that should be  considered important dimensions of recovery from homelessness. The extent to which homeless services support  individuals to achieve the capabilities they need to become who they want to be and do what they want to do is,  in turn, an important indicator of their efectiveness. In this study, we developed a measure of achieved capabilities  (MACHS) for use in homeless services settings, and assessed its construct and concurrent validity. Methods We analysed data col…

Transgenerational innovation capability in family firms

2020

PurposeBased on the theory of dynamic capabilities, the purpose of this study is to examine how generation influences the effect of innovation capability on family business performance. To achieve this purpose, a moderation model is tested using the generational level as the moderating variable.Design/methodology/approachThis study used a sample of 106 family businesses CEOs who were surveyed by mail using the Limesurvey 2.5 platform. The results obtained were analyzed using the second-generation partial least squares (PLS) structural equation model. The MICOM (Measurement Invariance of Composite Models) approach was used to analyze the moderating effect.FindingsThis research sheds lights o…

Linear Response Theory with finite-range interactions

2021

International audience; This review focuses on the calculation of infinite nuclear matter response functions using phenomenological finite-range interactions, equipped or not with tensor terms. These include Gogny and Nakada families, which are commonly used in the literature. Because of the finite-range, the main technical difficulty stems from the exchange terms of the particle–hole interaction. We first present results based on the so-called Landau and Landau-like approximations of the particle–hole interaction. Then, we review two methods which in principle provide numerically exact response functions. The first one is based on a multipolar expansion of both the particle–hole interactio…
