Fluorination of some highly functionalized cycloalkanes: chemoselectivity and substrate dependence.
2017
A study exploring the chemical behavior of some dihydroxylated β-amino ester stereo- and regioisomers, derived from unsaturated cyclic β-amino acids is described. The nucleophilic fluorinations involving hydroxy–fluorine exchange of some highly functionalized alicyclic diol derivatives have been carried out in view of selective fluorination, investigating substrate dependence, neighboring group assistance and chemodifferentiation.
Raman spectroscopy of glycolic acid complexes with N2
2019
High overtone excitation induced conformational isomerization of glycolic acid – nitrogen complex in an argon matrix was investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The interaction between glycolic acid and nitrogen change the green light (532 nm) induced isomerization processes compared to non-complexed glycolic acid. The 180° rotation around of the Csingle bondC bond and stabilization of carboxyl Odouble bondCsingle bondOsingle bondH dihedral angle to trans position were the main conformational changes observed in the complex of the lowest energy conformer and nitrogen. Interestingly, only one stable light-induced conformational product was observed, which isomerises back to the lowest energy con…
Population structure, life cycle, and trophic niche of the glacial relict amphipod, Gammaracanthus lacustris, in a large boreal lake
2019
Ecology of the glacial relict macrocrustacean Gammaracanthus lacustris, a rare inhabitant of deep Fennoscandian lakes, is poorly understood. We studied the life cycle and trophic position of this cold‐stenothermic amphipod in Lake Paasivesi, eastern Finland. The study is based on intensive sampling and analyses of fatty acid composition as well as stable carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) isotope ratios. Both day and night, the G. lacustris population occurred at depths below 25 m at temperatures 40 mm and live up to 4 years. The oldest and the largest individuals and females seemed to favour the deepest zones. In October, almost 100% of females with length at least 25 mm (i.e. females presu…
Removal of Cu(II) and Pb(II) from aqueous solutions by lacit acid bacteria
2015
Uzyskane dane doświadczalne były lepiej dopasowane do modelu Langmuira niż Freundlicha. Sorbent wykazał maksymalną zdolność sorpcyjną, wynoszącą 11,07 i 10.51 mg · g–1 odpowiednio dla jonów Cu(II) i Pb(II). Optymalne warunki biosorpcji obu jonów metali wynosiły: pH 6,0 i czas równowagi 40 minut. Omówiono również udział grup funkcyjnych na powierzchni bi…
Three Perspectives on Organizational Justice within Care Centers for People with Intellectual Disability: A Study about the Partnership between Profe…
2022
Dietary acid load and acid-base balance in exercise and health from adolescence to late adulthood
2018
This thesis investigated whether dietary acid load has either short-term (4 to 7 days) or prolonged (12 weeks) effects on acid-base status at rest and during submaximal and maximal aerobic exercise; whether the effects of dietary acid load on acid-base status differ between adolescents, young adults and the elderly, and between men and women; and whether the changes in acid-base balance have a further effect on aerobic exercise performance. These questions were addressed in three different study settings in healthy and recreationally active men and women. In studies 1 and 2, which followed a crossover study design, participants were assigned in randomized order to follow a diet with a low o…
Effect of different co-solvents on biodiesel production from various low-cost feedstocks using Sr–Al double oxides
2020
The main objective of the present paper comprises the investigation of biodiesel production from low-cost feedstock such as lard oil and waste cooking oil (WCO) using Sr-Al double oxides. Nanocatalyst was characterised FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, BET and XPS. The Sr:Al with 3:1 molar ratio showed the best catalytic activity in the conversion of both oils to fatty acid methyl ester. The effect of acetone and tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a co-solvent for transesterification were compared and the best result was obtained with 5 % THF. The mutual effect of the nanocatalyst and co-solvent on biodiesel production was investigated. The characterisation of biodiesel synthesised from lard oil and WCO was perfo…
Volatile compounds of flowers and leale of Sideritis italica (Miller) Greuter et Burdet used as mountain tea
2010
Sideritis italica (Miller) Greuter et Burdet (Lamiaceae), widely used in ethnopharmacological medicine, occurs in Southern Italy and Sicily. The phytochemical composition of the essential oils of S. italica flowers and leaves, harvested in Piano Battaglia (Sicily), was analysed by GC and GC-MS. Of the 51 compounds, 43 in the oil from flowers and 29 in the oil from leaves were identified. Kaur-15-ene (20.0%) was recognised as the main constituent of the oil from flowers, together with -cubebene (12.1%), -pinene (8.5%), (Z)-nuciferol (6.5%), tricyclene (4.5%) and -bisabolol (4.0%). In the oil from leaves, p-methoxyacetophenone (26.0%) prevailed, as did hexadecanoic acid (21.3%), followed by n…
FTIR matrix isolation and theoretical studies of glycolic acid dimers
2018
Glycolic acid (GA) dimers were studied in low temperature argon matrices by means of FTIR spectroscopy. Experimentally, the dimers were produced when monomeric glycolic acid molecules were thermally mobilized upon annealing of argon matrices at 25–35 K. The experimental spectra observed upon annealing indicate the presence of three different dimer structures. Computationally, MP2 and DFT calculations were used to study the potential dimer species in order to scrutinize the possible dimer structures, their energetics and their spectral features. Altogether 27 local minima were found for dimer structures for the three lowest conformers of glycolic acid considered based on previous studies on …
Dioxidomolybdenum(VI) and –tungsten(VI) complexes with tetradentate amino bisphenolates as catalysts for epoxidation
2017
Sixteen molybdenum and tungsten complexes with tripodal or linear tetradentate amino bisphenol ligands were studied as catalysts for the epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene, 1-octene, styrene, limonene and α-terpineol. These complexes can be divided into different categories upon key features, i.e. central metal (Mo versus W), side-arm donor (O versus N), hybridization of the N-donor (pyridine versus amine), ligand geometry (tripodal versus linear diamine) and sterical hindrance (Me versus tert-Bu substituents in the phenol part). All complexes can catalyse selectively the epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene by tert-butylhydroperoxide whereas the activities and selectivities towards other olefins (1-…
