Effect of mixing and spatial dimension on the glass transition

We study the influence of composition changes on the glass transition of binary hard disc and hard sphere mixtures in the framework of mode coupling theory. We derive a general expression for the slope of a glass transition line. Applied to the binary mixture in the low concentration limits, this new method allows a fast prediction of some properties of the glass transition lines. The glass transition diagram we find for binary hard discs strongly resembles the random close packing diagram. Compared to 3D from previous studies, the extension of the glass regime due to mixing is much more pronounced in 2D where plasticization only sets in at larger size disparities. Effects of low-gamma tACS on primary motor cortex in implicit motor learning

Abstract In the primary motor cortex (M1), rhythmic activity in the gamma frequency band has been found during movement planning, onset and execution. Although the role of high-gamma oscillatory activity in M1 is well established, the contribution of low-gamma activity is still unexplored. In this study, transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) was used with the aim to specifically modulate low-gamma frequency band in M1, during an implicit motor learning task. Acs zīlītes diametra izmaiņas monokulāra un binokulāra skata pozīcijas pieraksta laikā

Maģistra darbs uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 43 lapaspusēm un satur 29 attēlus, 3 tabulas un 25 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt acs zīlītes parametru izmaiņas monokulāra un binokulāra acs skata pozīcijas pieraksta laikā. Acs zīlītes parametri novērtēti ar acu kustību pieraksta iekārtu iViewX Hi-speed. Monokulāras skatīšanās laikā viena acs aizklāta ar melnu, baltu vai matētu aizklājēju. Pētījumā piedalījās 8 dalībnieki. Rezultāti parāda, ka zīlītes diametrs ir būtiski lielāks monokulāros apstākļos, pielietojot melnu vai baltu aizklājēju. Macroscopic persistent currents in YBa2Cu3O7

Persistent currents in polycrystalline YBa2Cu3O7 rings have been investigated by measuring the spatial distribution of the magnetic flux trapped in field-cooled samples. The results unambiguously show that macroscopic persistent ring currents exist. The critical current density depends very sensitively on the sample quality, reachingj c ≈250 A/cm2 at 77 K for our best samples.

Optiskās koherences tomogrāfijas pielietojums radzenes parametru novērtēšanā

This paper describes the outcomes of an teaching experiment conducted in the seminar held at the Faculty Engineering of Palermo University. The theme of the seminar focused on undergraduate experiment that yields the velocity distribution of thermionic electrons by analyzing the I-V characteristics of diodes and triodes. By using a simple model, the velocity distribution of thermionic electrons emitted by the vacuum tube cathode can be described by Maxwell's distribution. First and second order rational solutions to the Johnson equation and rogue waves

Rational solutions to the Johnson equation are constructed as a quotient of two polynomials in x, y and t depending on several real parameters. We obtain an infinite hierarchy of rational solutions written in terms of polynomials of degrees 2N (N + 1) in x, and t, 4N (N + 1) in y, depending on 2N − 2 real parameters for each positive integer N. We construct explicit expressions of the solutions in the cases N = 1 and N = 2 which are given in the following. We study the evolution of the solutions by constructing the patterns of their modulus in the (x, y) plane, and this for different values of parameters.

Acs zīlītes atbildes reakcijas izmaiņa dienas garumā uz impulsa stimulu

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 30 lappusēm un satur 5 attēlus, 7 grafikus, 1 vienādojumu, 1 pielikumu un 17 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis: Salīdzināt impulsa stimulu izraisītās acs zīlītes atbildes reakcijas izmaiņas dienas garumā. Metodika: Pētījumā piedalījās 8 dalībnieki vecumā no 15 līdz 23 gadiem. Eksperiments risinājās darba dienas garumā no 9 rītā līdz 16 pēcpusdienā.
