Structural phase transitions coupled with prominent dielectric anomalies and dielectric relaxation in [(CH3)3NH]2[KCo(CN)6] and mixed [(CH3)3NH]2[KFe…

2020

The crystals of pure [(CH3)3NH]2[KFe(CN)6] (TrMAFe) and [(CH3)3NH]2[KCo(CN)6] (TrMACo) as well as their mixed crystals (TrMAFexCo1−x), with different ratios of x = 0, 0.12, 0.18, 0.49, 0.56, 0.73, 0.81, 1.0, have been grown from aqueous solutions. The structure of TrMACo has been determined at 360 K to be cubic (Fmm). In phase II (100 K), the TrMACo crystal is monoclinic (C2/c). The thermal stability of the pure and mixed crystals has been determined by using both DTA and TGA. Based on the DSC results, we have found a single phase transition (PT) for both pure and mixed crystals. The Fe(III) concentration was estimated by using the SEM technique. We have found a linear relationship between …

Enhanced (photo)catalytic activity of Wells-Dawson (H6P2W18O62) in comparison to Keggin (H3PW12O40) heteropolyacids for 2-propanol dehydration in gas…

2016

Abstract Catalytic and photocatalytic 2-propanol dehydration to propene at atmospheric pressure and a temperature range of 60–120 °C were carried out in gas-solid regime by using bare and supported Keggin H 3 PW 12 O 40 (PW 12 ) and Wells-Dawson H 6 P 2 W 18 O 62 (P 2 W 18 ) heteropolyacids (HPAs). Binary materials were prepared by impregnation of the HPAs on commercial SiO 2 and TiO 2 . The Wells-Dawson was in any case more active than the Keggin heteropolyacid and the differences were enhanced when the supported samples were used. In particular, Wells-Dawson HPA supported on TiO 2 and under irradiation showed the highest activity. The HPA species played the key role both in the catalytic …

Non-oxidative dehydroaromatization of methane:an effective reaction regeneration cyclic operation for catalyst life extension

2015

[EN] Non-oxidative methane aromatization is an attractive direct route for producing higher hydrocarbons. It is highly selective to benzene despite the low conversion due to thermodynamic limitations, and Mo/H-ZSM-5, the first catalyst proposed for this reaction, is still considered as one of the most adequate. The major problem of this process is the severe catalyst deactivation due to the rapid build-up of carbonaceous deposits on the catalysts. Here we present an effective regeneration procedure that extends the life of Mo/zeolite based catalysts by combining reaction periods of 1.5 h with 0.5 h regeneration steps in a continuous cyclic mode and methane activation after each regeneration…

Theoretical EHT study of oxidative coupling of methane on pure MgO and MgO doped with Li and Na

1991

Abstract On the basis of Extended Huckel Theory, empirical studies on the oxidative coupling of methane with MgO pure and MgO doped with Li and Na are presented. The results obtained from the two-dimensional energy surfaces calculated for the interaction between linear clusters of these oxides and the methane molecule show a qualitative agreement with the experimental behaviour reported for these catalysts. The calculated activation energy barriers are in accord with the relative activities of these oxides (Li/MgO > Na/ MgO > MgO) and are of the same order of magnitude as the experimentally determined activation energies.

Influence of Adsorbed Water on the Activation Energy of Model Photocatalytic Reactions

2017

Two commercial (Merck and Sigma-Aldrich) and two home prepared (HP05 and HP05C) powdered TiO2 photocatalysts were investigated by fast field cycling nuclear magnetic resonance experiments in order to explore the nature of the interactions between water and the solid surfaces. The results were related to the activation energies determined at temperatures ranging from 303 to 353 K for the photocatalytic oxidation in water of three model molecules presenting different interactions with the solid surface (catechol, phenol, and metylbenzoate). The photoactivity results at different temperatures were comparable to each other because the runs were carried out while keeping constant the concentrati…

Reactive adsorption of thiophene on Ni/ZnO: role of hydrogen pretreatment and nature of the rate determining step.

2008

Abstract Reactive adsorption of thiophene on reduced and unreduced NiO/ZnO adsorbents was studied by thermal gravimetric analysis and by sulfidation in a fixed bed reactor at 330–375 °C and 10–40 mbar of thiophene in hydrogen. The adsorbents (12 wt% Ni) were prepared by co-precipitation of corresponding nitrates with sodium carbonate followed by calcination at 400 °C. We have found that such solids can react with thiophene without any prior reduction. Metallic Ni, indispensable for thiophene decomposition, is formed in this case in situ upon the contact with thiophene/H 2 reaction mixture. The reduction of NiO/ZnO in H 2 (360 °C, 6 h) results in the formation of Ni–Zn alloyed particles (as …

Increased recovery of brain acetylcholinesterase activity in dichlorvos-intoxicated European eels Anguilla anguilla by bath treatment with N-acetylcy…

2003

Organophosphate (OP) pesticides are widely used as antiparasitic chemicals in finfish aquaculture. However, current antidotes cannot be applied to treat intoxicated fish. We showed in previous studies the importance of glutathione (GSH) metabolism in pesticide resistance of the European eel Anguilla anguilla L. The present work studied the effects of the antioxidant and glutathione pro-drug N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) on the recovery of European eels exposed for 96 h to a sublethal concentration (0.17 mg l^-1; 20% of its 96 h LC50) of the OP pesticide dichlorvos (2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate; DDVP). This insecticide and acaricide decreased muscular GSH content and increased oxidised g…

Negative regulators of integrin activity

2012

Integrins are heterodimeric transmembrane adhesion receptors composed of α- and β-subunits. They are ubiquitously expressed and have key roles in a number of important biological processes, such as development, maintenance of tissue homeostasis and immunological responses. The activity of integrins, which indicates their affinity towards their ligands, is tightly regulated such that signals inside the cell cruicially regulate the switching between active and inactive states. An impaired ability to activate integrins is associated with many human diseases, including bleeding disorders and immune deficiencies, whereas inappropriate integrin activation has been linked to inflammatory disorders…

Integrin alpha 2 beta 1 promotes activation of protein phosphatase 2A and dephosphorylation of Akt and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta.

2002

The integrins are a large family of heterodimeric transmembrane receptors composed of α and β subunits (22). In addition to mediating cell-matrix interactions, integrins have been shown to activate intracellular signaling pathways which, in collaboration with growth factor-induced signals, regulate cellular functions (46). Some integrin signaling cascades are activated via the β subunit cytoplasmic domain, and they are therefore triggered by several integrin heterodimers. These signals include the activation of protein tyrosine kinases of the Src and focal adhesion kinase (FAK) families (9, 47). More-recent studies have revealed signaling events that are activated specifically by an α subun…
