Interaction between diclofop-methyl and 2,4-D in wild oat (Avena fatua L.) and cultivated oat (Avena sativa L.), and fate of diclofop-methyl in culti…

1989

Summary Influence of 2,4-D on toxicity of diclofop-methyl to Avena sativa (cv. Selma) and Arena fatua at 2·5 leaf stage has been evaluated under controlled conditions. Effects of 2,4-D on the fate of diclofop-methyl in cultivated oat have also been studied. Mixture with 2,4-D reduced the toxicity of diclofop-methyl to both species. When applied immediately after diclofop-methyl treatment, 2,4-D still reduced herbicide toxicity to wild oat. This reduction was smaller in cultivated oat. and was only observed at higher phytotoxicity. No interaction was observed when a 10-day period separated the two applications. In mixture, 2,4-D enhanced diclofop-methyl penetration and diclofop acid conjugat…

Coscinolactams A and B: new nitrogen-containing sesterterpenoids from the marine sponge Coscinoderma mathewsi exerting anti-inflammatory properties

2009

Abstract Investigation of the marine sponge Coscinoderma mathewsi led to the isolation of two novel nitrogen-containing cheilanthane sesterterpenoids, coscinolactams A and B, together with known suvanine. The structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic measurements including NOE experiments to deduce the stereochemistry. The natural compounds, as well as a semisynthetic derivative, showed moderate anti-inflammatory activity measured as their capability to inhibit PGE2 and NO production. The suvanine aldehyde derivative 4 inhibited inducible nitric oxide protein expression with an IC50 value of 7.3 μM.

The Cell Cycle-Specific Growth-Inhibitory Factor Produced by Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans Is a Cytolethal Distending Toxin

1998

ABSTRACT Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans has been shown to produce a soluble cytotoxic factor(s) distinct from leukotoxin. We have identified in A. actinomycetemcomitans Y4 a cluster of genes encoding a cytolethal distending toxin (CDT). This new member of the CDT family is similar to the CDT produced by Haemophilus ducreyi . The CDT from A. actinomycetemcomitans was produced in Escherichia coli and was able to induce cell distension, growth arrest in G 2 /M phase, nucleus swelling, and chromatin fragmentation in HeLa cells. The three proteins, CDTA, -B and -C, encoded by the cdt locus were all required for toxin activity. Antiserum raised against recombinant CDTC completely inhibited …

[Econometric model of food industry]

1993

Stone lines and heaps on south-western Niger plateaus as remains of ancient agricultural land

2011

Incomplete retention of radiation damage in zircon from Sri Lanka

2004

A suite of 18 zircon gemstones from placers in the Highland/Southwestern Complex, Sri Lanka, were subjected to a comprehensive study of their radiation damages and ages. The investigation included X-ray diffraction, Raman and PL spectroscopy, electron microprobe, PIXE and HRTEM analysis, as well as (U-Th)/He and SHRIMP U-Th-Pb age determinations. Zircon samples described in this study are virtually homogeneous. They cover the range from slightly metamict to nearly amorphous. Generally concordant U-Th-Pb ages averaging 555 ± 11 Ma were obtained. Late Ordovician zircon (U-Th)/He ages scattering around 443 ± 9 Ma correspond reasonably well with previously determined biotite Rb-Sr ages for rock…

Comparison of different tillage systems in organic farming : effect of soil structure and organic matter repartition on soil micro-organisms and thei…

2009

Over the last decades, the surface traditionally ploughed has tended to decrease and replaced by shallow working tillage techniques without soil inversion, i.e., no tillage or reduced tillage with tines or discs. These techniques were mostly developed in conventional farming systems but nowadays they are also developed in organic farming systems. Nevertheless, these tillage techniques could generate crop nutrients deficiencies and a deterioration of soil structure, especially during the first years of their application. As the use of synthetic fertilizers is forbidden in organic farming, a decrease of the soil fertility could be very detrimental for crop growth. Indeed, soil micro-organisms…
