Electrostatically operated micromirrors for a Hadamard transform spectrometer

2002

The paper presents the development of a linear micromirror array which can be used as a switchable entrance mask for a double-array Hadamard transform spectrometer. In addition to the detector array the double-array spectrometer has a linear multi-slit array realised by independently switchable micromirrors at the entrance side. Two different switch positions of the electrostatically operated mirrors allow the reflection of light into or away from the spectrometer. With this arrangement (mirror array, concave grating and array detector) and the use of the Hadamard transform principle it is possible to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and the resolution of the system compared to convention…

The metalloproteinase-disintegrin ADAM10 is exclusively expressed by type I muscle fibers.

2008

ADAM10 (Kuzbanian) is a member of a recently discovered family of membrane-anchored metalloproteinases with a complex and conserved domain structure. In part, these metalloproteinases have been implicated in muscle formation. Herein the expression pattern of ADAM10 in human skeletal muscle was studied. ADAM10 was found to be present in human myoblasts and to be exclusively expressed in type I fibers, suggesting that it may be critical in muscle fiber differentiation.

2019

Although Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics and Derrida's deconstruction are two important school of thoughts on the theory of interpretation, there are little connections between them. Especially after the unsuccessful meeting between Derrida and Gadamer at Paris in 1981, there were practically no collaborations between the two camps. As a result, the existing literatures comparing these two school of thoughts suffer two general problems. First, most focus only on their 1981 debate at Paris. Secondly, even for the commentators who take a wider approach, the investigation is often one-sided, simplifying too much the opposing side of the debate. The present project takes into consideration …

Platona darba “Faidons” lasījumi: Gregorija Vlastosa, Hansa-Georga Gadamera un Aleksandra Nehamasa pieejas

2018

Diagonal space time hadamard codes with erasure decoding algorithm

2005

A major challenge in the area of space time (ST) codes is to find codes suitable for efficient decoding, thus overcoming the problem of many existing ST code designs which require maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding. A solution could be to apply single-input single-output (SISO) channel codes and theory over temporal channel fading to the multi-input single-output (MISO) code construction and classical suboptimum decoding methods. For these purposes, an ST code construction which allows the use of efficient decoding algorithms is described. We propose a concatenated code, where the inner code is the diagonal ST Hadamard (D-STH) code with Paley constructions and the outer code is an algebraic b…

Influence of ADAM10 on prion protein processing and scrapie infectiosity in vivo.

2009

Abstract Both the cellular prion protein (PrPc) and the amyloid precursor protein (APP) are physiologically subjected to complex proteolytic processing events. While for APP the proteinases involved – alpha-, beta- and gamma-secretase – have been identified in vitro and in vivo, the cleavage of PrPc by now has been linked only to the shedding activity of the metalloproteinase ADAM10 and/or ADAM17 in cell culture. Here we show that neuronal overexpression of the alpha-secretase ADAM10 in mice reduces all PrPc species detected in the brain instead of leading to enhanced amounts of specific cleavage products of PrPc. Additionally, the incubation time of mice after scrapie infection is signific…

A cellular metalloproteinase activates Vibrio cholerae pro-cytolysin.

2004

Many strains of Vibrio cholerae produce a cytolysin (VCC) that forms oligomeric transmembrane pores in animal cells. The molecule is secreted as a procytolysin (pro-VCC) of 79 kDa that must be cleaved at the N terminus to generate the active 65-kDa toxin. Processing can occur in solution, and previous studies have described the action of mature VCC thus generated. However, little is known about the properties of pro-VCC itself. In this study, it is shown that pro-VCC exist as a monomer in solution and binds as a monomer to eukaryotic cells. Bound pro-VCC can then be activated either by exogenous, extracellular, or by endogenous, cell-bound proteases. In both cases, cleavage generates the 65…
