La Comprensión Asíncrona de las Emociones Básicas: un Estudio Longitudinal con Niños de 3 a 5 Años

2021

Can sad music really make you sad? Indirect measures of affective states induced by music and autobiographical memories

2012

The present study addressed music’s disputed ability to induce genuine sadness in listeners by investigating whether listening to sad music can induce sadness-related effects on memory and judgment. Related aims were to explore how the different mechanisms of music-induced emotions are involved in sadness induced by familiar, self-selected music and unfamiliar, experimenter-selected music, and whether the susceptibility to music-induced sadness is associated with trait empathy. One hundred twenty participants were randomly assigned into four conditions with different tasks: listening to unfamiliar sad or neutral music, or to self-selected sad music, or recalling a sad autobiographical event…

The analysis of the relationship between the Philostratean text and the one of Seneca (only Tragedies), Ovid and Statius confirmed the presence in Philostratus' Imagines of allusions to some Hellenistic lost works (we refer to Callimachus and Nicander) . In addition, thanks to a parallel between…

Template-Assembled Synthetic G-Quartets (TASQ) hydrosolubles : du ligand de quadruplexes d'ADN et d'ARN à la plateforme catalytique

2013

Natural G-quartets, a cyclic and coplanar array of four guanine residues held together via Hoogsteen H-bond network, have recently received much attention due to their involvement in G-quadruplex-DNA, an alternative higher-order DNA structure strongly suspected to play important roles in key cellular events (chromosomal stability, regulation of gene expression). Besides this, synthetic G-quartets, which artificially mimic native G-quartets, have also been widely studied for their involvement in nanotechnological applications (i.e. nanowires, artificial ion channels, etc.). In contrast, intramolecular synthetic G-quartets, also named template-assembled synthetic G-quartet (TASQ), have been m…

Hullun hauska maailma. Näkökulmia hulluutta ja poikkeavuuksia käsittelevään huumoriin opiskelijoiden digitaalisessa folkloressa

2020

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran tutkija Ulla Lipposen (1941–2015) tallettaman digitaalisen folkloreaineiston kuvaa 2000- luvun hulluudesta osana kansanhuumoria.

The discovery, distribution, and diversity of DNA viruses associated with Drosophila melanogaster in Europe

2021

Drosophila melanogaster is an important model for antiviral immunity in arthropods, but very few DNA viruses have been described from the family Drosophilidae. This deficiency limits our opportunity to use natural host-pathogen combinations in experimental studies, and may bias our understanding of the Drosophila virome. Here, we report fourteen DNA viruses detected in a metagenomic analysis of 6668 pool-sequenced Drosophila, sampled from forty-seven European locations between 2014 and 2016. These include three new nudiviruses, a new and divergent entomopoxvirus, a virus related to Leptopilina boulardi filamentous virus, and a virus related to Musca domestica salivary gland hypertrophy viru…

Development and characterization of a 293 cell line with regulatable expression of the hepatitis B virus large envelope protein

2004

During the life cycle of hepatitis B virus (HBV) the large L envelope protein plays a pivotal role that is related to its peculiar dual transmembrane topology. To study the complex structure and diverse functions of L under regulated conditions of production, a human 293 cell line stably expressing L under the control of the ecdysone-inducible promoter was generated. Cells demonstrated stringent dose- and time-dependent kinetics of induction with undetectable background expression in the absence of the inducer. Temporal control of L expression allowed to trace (i) its posttranslational reorientation resulting in the mixed topology; (ii) its spatial redistribution from the endoplasmic reticu…

Detection of Hepatitis B Virus DNA in the Liver of Children with Chronic Hepatitis B by In Situ Hybridization and Its Relation to Other Viral Markers

1992

The aim of the study was to detect hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA by in situ hybridization (ISH) with a 35S-labeled radioactive probe in frozen liver biopsy tissue sections of 63 hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive children. The results were compared to other markers of viral replication. HBV DNA was detected in 48 children. Of the 15 negative cases, four had hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg), 10 anti-HBe, and one neither HBeAg nor anti-HBe. Free HBV DNA in serum and liver was positive in one patient. Forty of the positive children were HBeAg- and six anti-HBe-positive; two were negative for both. Of 45 36 had HBV DNA in serum. In 38 of 47 HBV DNA and in 31 of 42 HBcAg could …

Genomic-scale analysis of DNA words of arbitrary length by parallel computation.

2006

In the post-genomic era, one of the main tasks is deciphering the meaning of the DNA sequences of complex organisms. In order to do so, there is a clear need for biocomputer tools able to extract and order the information of long DNA molecules, such as whole chromosomes or even complete genomes. However, most genomic analyses have been concentrated on the detection and counting of short words having sizes of between 1 and 10 nucleotides. In this paper, we describe parallel algorithms with different complexities that exhaustively determine all words of size k, k being arbitrarily large, in a source DNA sequence. The results shown that our algorithms achieve a high degree of scalability, allo…

Translation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface proteins from the HBV pregenome and precore RNAs in Semliki Forest virus-driven expression.

2004

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) pregenome RNA (pgRNA) serves as a translation template for the HBV core (HBc) protein and viral polymerase (Pol). HBV precore RNA (pcRNA) directs the synthesis of the precore (preC) protein, a precursor of the hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). pgRNA and pcRNA were expressed in the Semliki Forest virus (SFV) expression system. Besides the HBc and preC proteins, there was revealed the synthesis of all three forms of HBV surface (HBs) proteins: long (LHBs), middle (MHBs) and short (SHBs), the start codons of which are located more than 1000 nt downstream of the HBc and preC start codons. Moreover, other HBV templates, such as 3′-truncated pgRNA lacking 3′ direct repeat and…
