Perceived threat and prejudice towards immigrants in Finland : A study among early, middle, and late Finnish adolescents

ABSTRACTUsing integrated threat theory, this study examined how perceived threat, or fear of immigrants, manifests among early, middle, and late Finnish adolescents, and the relationship between perceived threat and prejudice among early, middle, and late adolescents. The sample consisted of 795 Finnish adolescents between 11 and 19 years of age. Realistic and symbolic threats were the most perceived threats and were more prevalent among late adolescents. Abstract Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the associations of sports video gaming behaviour in the sociological concept of Physical Activity Relationships (PAR) and to see if sports video gaming differs by gender. Abstract Sexting is an increasingly frequent phenomenon among adolescents, and it involves risky behaviors such as sextortion or even grooming. This study aims to analyze demographic, psychological, and cultural variables that may explain the nature of this phenomenon. The sample consisted of 471 adolescents from 12 to 18 years old from two countries, Spain and Mexico, with dissimilar levels of gender inequality. Results highlight important differences in sexting behavior between the two countries. En concreto, se compararon cuatro indicadores de ajuste psicológico (autoestima, ánimo depresivo, soledad y percepción de estrés) en víctimas con buena o mala comunicación con la madre, buena o mala comunicación con el padre, alta o baja percepción de ayuda del profesor, y alta o baja identificación con su grupo de iguales. El consumo de drogas es especialmente relevante por sus efectos negativos sobre la salud psicofísica y el funcionamiento social de los jóvenes. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar las diferencias de edad respecto a las frecuencias de consumo de alcohol y tabaco en una muestra de 354 escolares (50.85% varones) de 12 a 18 años (M = 14.66; DT = 1.08) que cumplimentaron el Questionnarie about Consume of Alcohol and Tobacco (TNT). Los resultados muestran que el 82.4% de los adolescentes ha consumido bebidas alcohólicas en alguna ocasión y el 25.6% es consumidor actualmente.
