AbstractThe quest for small molecules that avidly bind to G-quadruplex-DNA (G4-DNA, or G4), so called G4-ligands, has invigorated the G4 research field from its very inception. AbstractLike the lobsters, some terrestrial crabs and other crayfishes, the Australian red claw crayfish, Cherax quadricarinatus, elaborates in its stomach wall calcium storage structures called gastroliths. For understanding the cyclic elaboration and stabilization of these amorphous calcified structures, we studied the organic matrix (OM) of these paired biomineralizations. After decalcification with acetic acid, we analysed the proteinaceous components of an acetic acid-insoluble fraction by two-dimensional electrophoresis. Preeclampsia, which complicates 3-8% of pregnancies, is one of the leading causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Its pathophysiology remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the presence and the role of beta2- and beta2-adrenergic receptors (ADRB2 and ADRB3, respectively) in human placental arteries and to assess the influence of preeclampsia on ADRB responsiveness. Rho resonance, timelike pion form factor, and implications for lattice studies of the hadronic vacuum polarization

We study isospin-1 P-wave ππ scattering in lattice QCD with two flavors of O(a) improved Wilson fermions. For pion masses ranging from mπ=265 MeV to mπ=437 MeV, we determine the energy spectrum in the center-of-mass frame and in three moving frames. We obtain the scattering phase shifts using Lüscher’s finite-volume quantization condition. Fitting the dependence of the phase shifts on the scattering momentum to a Breit-Wigner form allows us to determine the corresponding ρ mass mρ and gρππ coupling. By combining the scattering phase shifts with the decay matrix element of the vector current, we calculate the timelike pion form factor, Fπ, and compare the results to the Gounaris-Sakurai repr…
Triciklisko 1,4-dihidropiridīna atvasinājumu un cilvēka telomērisko guanīna kvadrupleksu mijiedarbība

Pēdējos gados tiek pievērsta lielāka uzmanība savienojumiem, kuriem piemīt spēja mijiedarboties ar netipiskām DNS struktūrām – guanīna kvadrupleksiem. Šī pētījuma darba mērķis bija izpētīt triciklisko 1,4-dihidropiridīna atvasinājumu (PP-544-NH4, PP-544-Na, PP-150-Na un B-5-Na) spēju mijiedarboties ar telomēras guanīna antiparalēlām un hibrīdformas kvadrupleksiem, kā arī spēju mijiedarboties ar vienpavediena DNS formu. Rezultātu iegūšanai tika izmantotas spektroskopijas metodes. Lielākajai daļai savienojumu tika novērota mijiedarbība ar telomēru-guanīna kvadrupleksu antiparalēlo un hibrīda konformāciju, kā arī ar vienpavadiena DNS formu, tomēr ar dažadu intensitāti.
