Kult obrazów według Reformatorów: Marcina Lutra i Jana Kalwina

Ojcowie Reformacji: Marcin Luter i Jan Kalwin zakwestionowali kult obrazu. Posługiwali się różnymi argumentami. Marcin Luter dopuszczał obecność obrazów w przestrzeni kościelnej, a Jan Kalwin – nie. Ich teologia mocno oddziałała na Europę, tak że nawet katolicyzm w swej potocznej wrażliwości odszedł od rozumienia obrazu kultycznego, a wszedł w czas sztuki. Obraz przestał być pojmowany jako szczególne miejsce obecności (ikona), a zaczął funkcjonować jako dzieło sztuki, przestał być medium odnoszącym do oryginału, ale sam stał się oryginałem w sensie artystycznym.
Udział Epifaniusza z Salaminy w walce z kultem obrazów

Epifaniusz, biskup Salaminy na Cyprze w latach 376–403, należał do znaczących postaci w IV w. W działalności publicznej cechowała go radykalna postawa wobec prawd wiary, co bezpośrednio przekładało się na treść jego pism. Obok krytyki wszelkich przejawów heretyckiego myślenia zwalczał ponadto szerzący się wówczas kult obrazów. Taka opinia o nim stała się bardzo głośna dopiero w XX w., gdyż przed 100 laty, czyli w 1916 r., Karl Holl opublikował dosyć obszerne studium, w którym prezentuje tekst trzech utworów Epifaniusza potępiających oddawanie czci obrazom. The role of geitonogamy in the reproduction success of a nectarless dactylorhiza maculata (orchidaceae)

Dactylorhiza maculata is a common terrestrial orchid in Finland. It is nectarless and the seed production is relatively high for a deceptive species. The pollinators of D. maculata do not have frequent visits to the flowers, but the species is capable of over 50 % seed capsule production. Geitonogamy is the transfer of self pollen between flowers on the same individual. It is typical that the pollinators of deceptive inflorescences visit only few flowers and have short stays in them, and therefore it is commonly thought that geitonogamy is infrequent among deceptive species. Among the dits of Guillaume de Machaut consecrated to animal figures, the Dit dou lyon deserves a new ecdotic and critical study. It is a narrative work dating back to 1342, consisting of more than two thousand octosyllabes and transmitted by eleven manuscripts (14th-15th centuries), which contain Machaut’s works and almost all accompanied by a rich iconographic apparatus. Indeed, the two manuscripts that do not keep miniatures are however prepared to receive them, as proof of the importance of the iconographic element in the process of making manuscripts containing the works of Guillaume de Machaut, then to their reception and “monumentalization”.
