Milk as an Essential Source of Iodine in Latvian Population

Abstract Milk and dairy products are studied as alternative iodine sources, because salt iodisation is controversial due to high salt consumption leading to cardiovascular diseases. However, the iodine concentration in milk markedly varies. This study evaluated the iodine concentration in cow’s milk available in the Latvian market. Iodine and fat concentration was analysed with a spectrophotometer “Varian Cary 50” based ISO 2446:2008 in 20 milk samples. Data from the Central Statistical Bureau and survey among pregnant women were used to analyse milk product consumption and its impact on iodine status. In comparison to other cereals, oat contains more total proteins, carbohydrate, fat, non-starch fibre, as well as unique antioxidants (one of them - avenanthramides), vitamins, and minerals. One of the most often studied components of oats is β-glucan - a type of soluble dietary fibre located throughout the starch endosperm, but with highest concentration in the bran. This chapter discusses seventeenth-century Sweden, where academically trained advocates and procurators emerged but attempts of advocacy monopoly failed. The case of Gabriel Abrahamsson—a son of a pastor, a former cavalryman and farmer, and, later on, a lower-level civil servant in Helsinki—proves that no specific privileged status or academic education was needed for advocacy in lower courts. The tradition to use any reasonable man as a legal representative continued, and trusted men from various social backgrounds with self-acquired legal skills acted as lay advocates. Application of the trans-contextual model to predict change in leisure time physical activity

Objective: This study tested effects of changes in the psychological constructs of the trans-contextual model (TCM) on changes in adolescents' outside of school moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (PA) measured using self-report and accelerometer-based device. Design: A three-wave longitudinal design was used. High school students (N = 331) completed measures of all the TCM constructs at Time1 and at Time2, five weeks apart. As Romania has joined the European Union, the European currency must be adopted even though it may raise some problems regarding conversion, the impact on goods and services expenses on the interior market having a direct effect on the population and the national economy because we don’t know which the trajectory of the Euro will be. This paper takes a look at the advantages and disadvantages of the adoption of the unique currency in our country taking into account the time factor and the behaviour we must have regarding the Euro, establishing the issues we must take a close look at when the initial term of adoption must be respected.

One of the ways to create a positive approach to marriage seems to be a solemn observation of marriage jubilees .The paper deals with the historical process of the development of the forms of observance concerning wedding anniversaries. However the main emphasis is put on the rites of wedding anniversary in post conciliar liturgical books. The reader may also become aware of the idea and history of pilgrimages organized on the occasion of the silver and golden marriage jubilees, considering also a strong and clear testimony to the importance of the wedding vows.
