Novel supramolecular affinity materials based on (−)-isosteviol as molecular templates
2013
The readily available ex-chiral-pool building block (−)-isosteviol was combined with the C3-symmetric platforms hexahydroxytriphenylene and hexaaminotriptycene providing large and rigid molecular architectures. Because of the persistent cavities these scaffolds are very potent supramolecular affinity materials for head space analysis by quartz crystal microbalances. The scaffolds serve in particular as templates for tracing air-borne arenes at low concentration. The affinities of the synthesized materials towards different air-borne arenes were determined by 200 MHz quartz crystal microbalances.
Qualitative Evaluation of the STOEMP Network in Ghent: An Intersectoral Approach to Make Healthy and Sustainable Food Available to All
2020
The STOEMP network is, to our knowledge, one of the first initiatives to bring different sectors together in a municipality so as to increase accessibility to healthy and sustainable foods for all, with particular attention for the disadvantaged population. This qualitative study aimed to gain an in-depth insight into how the STOEMP network aims to reach its goal of making healthy, sustainable food available to everyone, through an intersectoral, collaborative process, exploring the facilitators and challenges of taking a systems-oriented approach to achieving this. Interviews were conducted among 15 stakeholders of the STOEMP network between March&ndash
Intra-Acting Food Citizenship in Community-Supported Agriculture in Finland
2023
Citizens are called upon to become active participants in creating a more sustainable food system. As food citizens, people participate in defining and constructing their food systems according to their needs and values. In food policies, the concept of food citizenship is often left undefined or with reference only to individual activities. In the food citizenship literature, the role of nonhuman agency in constituting food citizenship needs more examination. Here we investigate food citizenship activities in a citizen-led community-supported agriculture group and explore the role of materiality in constituting food citizenship. We ask (1) what is the role of material-discursive arrangemen…
Interpretation of the RAS method : absorption and fabrication effects are incorrect.
1999
The r and s vectors of the RAS method of updating matrices are presented often as corresponding to an absorption effect and a fabrication effect. Here, it is proved that these vectors are unidentified, so their interpretation in terms of fabrication and absorption effect is incorrect..
MODERN TECHNOLOGY IN RURAL CHARACTERISTICS
2012
Electronic business can change the socio-economic life of a people. It can increase knowledge, and employee revenue. In this paper we are focusing on how it promotes improving the structure of economic sectors within the rural areas. Then it can increase the farmers' level of organization. It promotes a career and employment in manufacturing for the village inhabitants. Family life of farmers and the social appearance in the rural environment are greatly improved as well Also it raises the education and social value of the population in the rural areas of the country.
ACCOUNTING FOR BIOLOGICAL ASSETS
2014
One of the most important and oldest economic activities is agriculture. The reflection in the accounting system and presenting the information regarding this activity were and are in the attention of the national and international accounting organizations. In comparison with other economic branches, the agricultural activity is characterized by specific activities that require appropriate accounting attitudes.
THE PRESENT RURAL SPACE IN SEARCH OF A NEW IDENTITY NEW CHALLENGES - NEW OPPORTUNITIES MĂRGINIMEA SIBIULUI - AGRICULTURAL COORDINATES
2015
Not only fields like auto industry, IT and services constitute resources of the economic progress known in the last years in the County of Sibiu. In its turn, the agricultural sector has considerable potential; reviving agriculture and revitalizing the rural environment represent possible new development engines, important sources of economic increase respectively, both for our County and at regional level. The main purpose of our paper is to inquire into the economic specificities of Mărginimea Sibiului, one of the most representative regions of Sibiu. We are interested in analyzing the structure and the fonctioning of the agricultural exploitations from this area, and also in identifying …
SUSTAINABLE RURAL DEVELOPMENT IN ROMANIA. OPPORTUNITIES AND PERSPECTIVES. CASE STUDY: THE SIBIU COUNTY
2015
The paper below aims at bringing its contribution to outline the Sibiu County's complex agricultural profile. We are interested not only in observing the current economic realities, but also the structural changes experienced in the agricultural sector, our goal being that of highlighting the determining factors underlying the changes experienced. Last but not least, the research paper below seeks to identify the likely opportunities that Sibiu County has in what concerns sustainable rural development and, at the same time, to make a series of recommendations related to a more efficient exploitation of the agricultural potential existing at the level of this county.
Antipredatory function of head shape for vipers and their mimics.
2011
Most research into the adaptive significance of warning signals has focused on the colouration and patterns of prey animals. However, behaviour, odour and body shape can also have signal functions and thereby reduce predators' willingness to attack defended prey. European vipers all have a distinctive triangular head shape; and they are all venomous. Several non-venomous snakes, including the subfamily Natricinae, commonly flatten their heads (also known as head triangulation) when disturbed. The adaptive significance of this potential behavioural mimicry has never been investigated. We experimentally tested if the triangular head shape typical of vipers offers protection against predation.…
Human disturbance on Polylepis mountain forests in Peruvian Andes
2014
Ihmistoiminta vaikuttaa ekosysteemien luonnolliseen tilaan ollen merkittävä uhka hotspot-alueiden lajeille. Lisäksi ekosysteemin pirstaleisuus, laikun koko ja reunavaikutukset voivat vaikuttaa alueen lajirunsauteen ja sukupuuttovauhtiin.…
