Intermittent Theta-Burst Stimulation Over the Suprahyoid Muscles Motor Cortex Facilitates Increased Degree Centrality in Healthy Subjects

2020

Theta-burst stimulation (TBS), a variant of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), can potentially benefit the treatment of swallowing disorders. However, the after-effects of TBS on the swallowing motor cortex remain uncertain. The newly developed graph-based analysis of the centrality approach has been increasingly used to explore brain networks. The purpose of this study was to identify degree centrality (DC) alterations in the brain network after different TBS protocols were performed over the suprahyoid muscles motor cortex in healthy subjects. A total of 40 right-handed healthy subjects (mean age: 23.73 ± 2.57 years, range: 21–30, 20 females) were included in this study …

Mesoporous SBA-15 silica modified with cerium oxide: Effect of ceria loading on support modification

2010

Abstract The present work investigates the effect of ceria loading on silica SBA-15. Five CeO2/SBA-15 samples with CeO2 content equal to 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 wt% were prepared by wetness-impregnation of the support with cerium nitrate hexahydrate, as precursor, dissolved in ethanol. After drying at room temperature, the resulting samples were calcined at 400 °C for 2h. Characterizations by BET surface area and pore-size distribution, XRD, NH3-TPD and H2-TPR were performed.

: Evolution of the examination at the end of college in sub-Saharan Africa

2004

The evolution of schooling in the developing systems in sub-Saharan Africa has brought a sizeable new population into the colleges. Unfortunately, the scarcity of resources and the need to pursue development of basic education prevents maintaining this population in the lycees. Thus the examination at the end of college becomes the focus of very stressful management of different currents and finds itself divided about aims which are not easy to reconcile. Original solutions can be found, as is the case in Mauretania, while the combination of better-known solutions may allow this examination to deal with these contradictions.

Sustainable viticulure in Brazil's context : a proposition

2015

The thesis involves the proposition of a framework for the sustainability of viticulture in Brazil using a territorial approach built from two exploratory studies in Brazilian wine regions of Campanha Gaúcha and Vale do São Francisco based on preliminary studies. Those studies involved technical visits in three countries (France, Italy and Spain) and frameworks’ observations in another five (South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, USA and Chile). The framework proposed is called BaccuS. It is structured on a matrix basis, with an axis corresponding to dimensions and other to guidelines, both in ascending order of complexity and development. There are eighteen topics that represent areas to ac…

Improving the accuracy of rainfall prediction using a regionalization approach and neural networks

2018

Spatial and temporal analysis of precipitation patterns has become an intense research topic in contemporary climatology. Increasing the accuracy of precipitation prediction can have valuable results for decision-makers in a specific region. Hence, studies about precipitation prediction on a regional scale are of great importance. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) have been widely used in climatological applications to predict different meteorological parameters. In this study, a method is presented to increase the accuracy of neural networks in precipitation prediction in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in Iran. For this purpose, monthly precipitation data recorded at 42 rain gauges duri…

The climate change effect on the african monsoon region : evolution of the precipitation and atmospheric fields in the CMIP3 and CMIP5 simulations un…

2013

The fourth IPCC report in 2007 established the synthesis of previously published work onthe effects of climate change on global and regional scales. It shows in particular that no consensuscan be found with regard to the future of rainfall — and atmospheric dynamics- associatedwith region — African monsoon. This dissertation revisits this issue in the light of new dataand using an approach avoiding over-representation of the number of simulations available forone type of model and taking into account the diversity of models and their evolution in time :twenty general circulation models (GCMs) participating in the exercises CMIP3 (twelve GCMs)and CMIP5 (eight GCMs) under the A1B emissions sc…

Erosion en milieu sableux cultivé au Niger : dynamique actuelle et passée en liaison avec la pression anthropique et les changements climatiques

2011

Sahelian ecosystems, especially those installed on sandy soils react very quickly and intensely to small climatic changes. In this semi-arid area, wind erosion which occurs mainly on cultivated millet fields and is threatening the sustainable use of land resources. Furthermore, the rapid population growth and the severe droughts of the twentieth century have had important impacts on ecosystems. To better manage this fragile environment, it is important first to understand how it works. This thesis was included in the framework of the AMMA project (African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analyses) and was in the heart of a CORUS 2 (Coopération pour la Recherche Universitaire et Scientifique) progr…

2010

AbstractCharoite, ideally (K,Sr,Ba,Mn)15–16(Ca,Na)32[(Si70(O,OH)180)](OH,F)4.0·nH2O, a rare mineral from the Murun massif in Yakutiya, Russia, was studied using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, selected-area electron diffraction, X-ray spectroscopy, precession electron diffraction and the newly developed technique of automated electron-diffraction tomography. The structure of charoite (a= 31.96(6) Å,b= 19.64(4) Å,c= 7.09(1) Å, β = 90.0(1)°,V= 4450(24) Å3, space groupP21/m) was solvedab initioby direct methods from 2878 unique observed reflections and refined toR1/wR2= 0.17/0.21. The structure can be visualized as being composed of three different dreier silicate chains: a d…

Preferential solvation of poly(methyl methacrylate) and a bisphenol A diglycidyl ether by size-exclusion chromatography

2004

The preferential adsorption coefficient, lambda, of poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA, in solutions formed by an epoxy resin in tetrahydrofuran (THF), was studied by size-exclusion chromatography (SEC). Only PMMA of lowest molar mass was preferentially solvated by epoxy but at low concentrations of epoxy in the mixture. At higher epoxy content PMMA was preferentially solvated by THF. A simultaneous and competitive solvation between the specific interactions PMMA-epoxy and the self association of epoxy at high concentrations would be the responsible of this inversion point. The more compacted coil of PMMA of higher molecular weights in solution could explain the lack of interaction of these po…

Electronic Structure and Bonding of Icosahedral Core–Shell Gold–Silver Nanoalloy Clusters Au144–xAgx(SR)60

2011

Atomically precise thiolate-stabilized gold nanoclusters are currently of interest for many cross-disciplinary applications in chemistry, physics and molecular biology. Very recently, synthesis and electronic properties of "nanoalloy" clusters Au_(144-x)Ag_x(SR)_60 were reported. Here, density functional theory is used for electronic structure and bonding in Au_(144-x)Ag_x(SR)_60 based on a structural model of the icosahedral Au_144(SR)_60 that features a 114-atom metal core with 60 symmetry-equivalent surface sites, and a protecting layer of 30 RSAuSR units. In the optimal configuration the 60 surface sites of the core are occupied by silver in Au_84Ag_60(SR)_60. Silver enhances the electr…
