Capsaicin desensitization in vivo is inhibited by ruthenium red.

The effect of systemic administration of Ruthenium Red on the excitatory and desensitizing effect of capsaicin was investigated in rats. Ruthenium Red was injected s.c. 30 min before capsaicin was administered. The excitatory effect of capsaicin on corneal, perivascular and visceral afferents was not influenced by treatment with Ruthenium Red. However, determination of the neuropeptide content and evoked neuropeptide release in peripheral organs and dorsal spinal cord 48 h after treatment showed that Ruthenium Red attenuated the 'desensitizing' effect of capsaicin at peripheral, but not at central, endings of primary afferents. Results on performance and ageing of solar modules based on Elkem Solar Silicon (ESS™) from installations at various locations

Abstract The present study aims to present the current status of the results obtained using Elkem Solar Silicon (ESS™) as feedstock basis for solar cell and modules. It is shown that solar cells based on ESS™ are able to follow the development of the solar industry obtaining comparable efficiencies to standard polysilicon based cells. The characteristics of ESS™ based solar cells, having normally higher V oc and FF and lower I sc , seem to give clear advantages in the field for solar modules located at high irradiance areas. Guaranteed error bounds for linear algebra problems and a class of Picard-Lindelöf iteration methods

This study focuses on iteration methods based on the Banach fixed point theorem and a posteriori error estimates of Ostrowski. Their application for systems of linear simultaneous equations, bounded linear operators, as well as integral and differential equations is considered. The study presents a new version of the Picard–Lindelöf method for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) supplied with guaranteed and explicitly computable upper bounds of the approximation error. The estimates derived in the thesis take into account interpolation and integration errors and, therefore, provide objective information on the accuracy of computed approximations.

Čaulu programma ir lineāri algebrisks skaitļošanas modelis, ar kura palīdzību var konstruēt programmas Būla funkciju rēķināšanai. Ir zināms, kā čaulu programmu var pārtaisīt par kvantu vaicājošo algoritmu. Pie tam, čaulu programmām var definēt sarežģītību tā, ka pārtaisītajam kvantu algoritmam sarežģītība sakristu ar čaulu programmas sarežģītību. Kvantu vaicājumu sarežģītība dinamiskās programmēšanas problēmām

Dinamiskā programmēšana (DP) ir plaši pētīta no klasiskās skaitļošanas puses, un jauni rezultāti tiek atrasti katru gadu. Taču no kvantu skaitļošanas puses tā ir pētīta daudz mazāk. Tāpēc tika izvēlētas un pētītas vairākas plaši pazīstamas 1-dimensiju DP problēmas, izmantojot kvantu vaicājumu modeli. Darbā tika aplūkotas mazākā svara apakš-sekvences (LWS) problēmas, kā, piemēram, kastu komplektēšanas (NestedBoxes) problēma, kā arī dažas saistītās problēmas. Darba mērķis bija atrast aplūkotajām LWS problēmām augšējo novērtējumu, kas labāks par triviālo O ̃(n^1.5 ) vai labu apakšējo novērtējumu.
