Characterisation of sedimentary and petrophysical heterogeneities of a microporous reservoir : the case of Chalk (Upper Cretaceous, Paris Basin, Fran…
2016
Chalk is defined as a microporous reservoir rock. This formation is a prolific hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir in the North Sea and is one of the main aquifers in the Paris Basin. The heterogeneity of chalk in terms of petrophysical properties (both surface and subsurface) is illustrated by porosity ranging from 4 to 52 %, permeability from 0.01 to 100 mD, and P-wave velocity on water-saturated samples from 2.4 to 4.4 km.s-1 (Alam et al., 2011).In the study area (Normandie, France), taken as an outcrop analogue, 114 samples were collected (Cenomanian – Santonian). As in the North Sea fields, these samples show great petrophysical heterogeneity: total porosity () from 6.1 to 46.5 %, very low …
Critical study of the quantity theory of money in the history of prices crisis
2014
The Quantity Theory of money which always links the increase in the high-Powered money supply and the general rise in prices is one of the oldest concepts in economics. After to have been the subject of many controversies at different times, it seems nowadays to hold less attention from the economists because the dispute is dissipated in a kind of religious choice to believe or not to believe to quantity theory. This theory officially influences the monetary policy of most of central banks in the world that bind conventional measures to control the money supply to curb inflation process. In many orthodox economics’ textbooks, the quantity theory is still deployed in perpetuum to explain the…
1993
Post Keynesians have developped the view that credit availability is fundamentally determined by demand-side pressures. However, two aproaches o f money supply endogeneity are here distinguished : full and partial accommodation by central banks of reserve needs arising from bank lending. In the first case, central banks only set the supply price but not the supply quantity of reserves, in the second they can and do control reserve quantities. We examine the major implications of these theories on short term interest rates determination, management practices (particularly liability management) of commercial banks, financial innovations and quantity rationing by banks. We try to show that bot…

Resveratrol-induced xenophagy promotes intracellular bacteria clearance in intestinal epithelial cells and macrophages
2019
International audience; Autophagy is a lysosomal degradation process that contributes to host immunity by eliminating invasive pathogens and the modulating inflammatory response. Several infectious and immune disorders are associated with autophagy defects, suggesting that stimulation of autophagy in these diseases should be bene ficial. Here, we show that resveratrol is able to boost xenophagy, a selective form of autophagy that target invasive bacteria. We demonstrated that resveratrol promotes in vitro autophagy-dependent clearance of intracellular bacteria in intestinal epithelial cells and macrophages. These results were validated in vivo using infection in a transgenic GFP-LC3 zebra f…
This Is Not Vivian. The Photographer as a Form of Life
2019
In Semiotics, the notion of form of life seems to be associated to crossing a boundary, be it the one between dimensions of language (usage/rule), between cognitive aspects of a discourse (ethical/aesthetic) or generic dimensions of living (particular/general) in such a way that its own perception (and therefore its heuristic relevance) seems subordinate to the possibility of comparing those that initially appear to us as heterogeneous textualities. In order to detect the form of life it is necessary to go beyond the text, whether this leads to a practice or another text, and therefore a discourse. But is there a possibility that a text does not limit itself to speaking about a form of life…

Human settlement dynamics and alluvial dynamics of the Rhine River during the Holocene: Geoarchaeology of the site of Oedenburg (Haut-Rhin, France).
2007
The relationship between alluvial dynamics and control parameters such as climate are well known and understood at plurimillennial and pluriannual time-scales. But it is not really the case at multicentennial and multidecennal time-scales compatible with human society settlement time-scales. In a present and near future context, when human settlement may be affected by strong climatic variation, alluvial dynamics understanding is however a major centre of attention to the development of efficient models. To approach this scale-related question, a segment of the Upper Rhine River presenting both anastomosed and braided was investigated. This area also gives us the opportunity to study settle…
