Background This article uses the logistic regression model for diagnostic decision making in patients with chronic nasal symptoms. We studied the ability of the logistic regression model, obtained by the evaluation of a database, to detect patients with positive allergy skin-prick test (SPT) and patients with negative SPT. Objective: Adults with degenerative spinal deformity (ASD) have lower health-related quality of life (HRQL) compared to the general population. Applying Rasch Measurement Theory (RMT), this study tested the revised Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22r) HRQL instrument among symptomatic adult patients with degenerative spinal disorders and varying degrees of ASD. Individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) experience sleep disturbances due to the impact of respiratory symptoms on sleep quality. We explored whether sleep disturbances in COPD are linked to heterogeneity of airway constriction.The impact of breathing problems on sleep quality was measured in consecutive COPD outpatients with the COPD and Asthma Sleep Impact Scale (CASIS) questionnaire. Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is a symptom of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) that resolves under treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). In some patients, sleepiness persists despite CPAP treatment. We retrospectively analyzed data on subjective residual EDS, assessed as an Epworth Sleepiness Scale score (ESS) >10, in patients from the European Sleep Apnea Database (n = 4,853, mean age +/- SD 54.8 +/- 11.8 years, 26.1% females), at baseline and at the first visit (median follow-up: 5 months, interquartile range 3-13). Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot iespējamās saistības starp indivīdu mērķu orientāciju un izjusto afektu darba vietā. Pētījums veikts divos posmos. Pirmajā posmā veikts pilotpētījums mērķu orientācijas aptaujas sākotnējai adaptācijai 82 respondentu izlasē, no kuras 49 sievietes un 33 vīrieši. Pilotpētījuma rezultāti atbalstīja 2X2 faktoriālu mērķa orientācijas modeli un uzrādīja labu mērķa orientācijas skalu iekšējo saskaņotību. Gala pētījumā tika lietota adaptētā mērķu orientācijas aptauja un PANAS pozitīvo un negatīvo afektu skala, lai noskaidrotu, kā mērāmie lielumi savstarpēji saistīti. Following a study aimed at measuring the limits and challenges of the social mediation system, the authors put forward an examination in this article of the mutual expectations of the social mediator and its employer, the urban community. This sociological study is comprehensive: it uses the method of the individual interview and focus group.
