Le récit d’esclave africain-américain : réflexions sur une appellation générique
2015
What do we talk about when we talk about 'slave narratives?' African American slave narratives have been a staple of American literary studies over the past decades. The narratives of Frederick Douglass, Harriet Jacobs and other ex-slaves have been recovered, anthologized and discussed by eminent critics such as Marion Wilson Starling, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Frances Smith Foster and William L. Andrews. For all its ubiquity, however, the generic label 'slave narrative' has been used in many different ways by specialists of African American literature. In this essay I argue that the systematic and sometimes uncritical use of the label has led to generalizations that limit our understanding of…

Hôtels et dépendances
2011
This article addresses the issue of job quality for housekeepers in …

Practices in research, surveillance and control of neglected tropical diseases by One Health approaches: A survey targeting scientists from French-sp…
2021
One health (OH) approaches have increasingly been used in the last decade in the fight against zoonotic neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). However, descriptions of such collaborations between the human, animal and environmental health sectors are still limited for French-speaking tropical countries. The objective of the current survey was to explore the diversity of OH experiences applied to research, surveillance and control of NTDs by scientists from French-speaking countries, and discuss their constraints and benefits. Six zoonotic NTDs were targeted: echinococcoses, trypanosomiases, leishmaniases, rabies, Taenia solium cysticercosis and leptospiroses. Invitations to fill in an online q…
Implication du récepteur 5-HT4 cardiaque humain dans la fibrillation auriculaire : rôle d’auto-anticorps dirigés contre ce récepteur ?
2004
The human cardiac 5-HT4 receptor was cloned in 1997. It is functional only in atrial myocytes where it is positively coupled via Gs to the adenylate cyclase, activates the cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and in consequence phosphorylates a variety of intracellular proteins implicated in excitation-contraction coupling. A number of studies suggest a role for the 5-HT4 receptor in the maintenance or elongation of atrial fibrillation. It is now accepted that certain cardiac pathologies involve auto-immune processes. Antibodies directed against the second extracellular loop of a number of cardiac G-protein linked receptors have been found. The human cardiac 5-HT4 receptor could therefore al…
