Kokemuksia kokonaisuudesta : tutkielma kehollisuuden ja maailmankatsomuksen suhteesta buenosairesilaisten joogaavien katolisten keskuudessa

Tutkielma käsittelee kehollisuuden ja henkisyyden suhdetta kymmenen buenosairesilaisen joogaavan katolisen elämässä. Keskeisin tutkimuskysymys on, miten informantit merkityksellistävät omaa elämäänsä joogan ja katolilaisuuden kautta, ja millä tavalla nuo merkitykset kohtaavat yksilön maailmankatsomuksessa. Lähestymistapoina toimivat sekä symboli- että kehoantropologia. Symboliselta kannalta yksilö nähdään aktiivisena merkityksentuottajana, joka tulkitsee ja uudelleentulkitsee kokemuksiaan, ihmissuhteitaan ja elämäntapahtumiaan. In this article I describe the results of a questionnaire survey done on non-dominant language writers in Finland, and reflect this on the criteria by which a professional artist has been traditionally defined in Finland. The background data consists of reports and studies on artists' social standing conducted by Arts Promotion Center Finland, Cupore and the Finnish Writers' Union.

Asthma-Related Knowledge and Practices among Mothers of Asthmatic Children: A Latent Class Analysis

Mothers’ knowledge about childhood asthma influences management practices and disease control, but validating knowledge/practice questionnaires is difficult due to the lack of a gold standard. We hypothesized that Latent Class Analysis (LCA) could help identify underlying mother profiles with similar knowledge/practices. A total of 438 mothers of asthmatic children answered a knowledge/practice questionnaire. Using answers to the knowledge/practice questionnaire as manifest variables, LCA identified two classes: Class 1, “poor knowledge” (33%); Class 2, “good knowledge” (67%).
