Covalent Protein Binding of Vinyl Chloride Metabolites During Co-Incubation of Freshly Isolated Hepatocytes and Hepatic Sinusoidal Cells of Rats

1983

Proteins of isolated rat hepatic sinusoidal cells incubated with 14C-vinyl chloride, rat liver microsomes and an NADPH-regenerating system were alkylated by vinyl chloride metabolites formed by microsomes. This suggests that reactive vinyl chloride metabolites can penetrate sinusoidal cells. Protein alkylation in isolated hepatic sinusoidal cells was higher when these were co-incubated with isolated hepatocytes, indicating that reactive vinyl chloride metabolites formed by hepatocytes are stable enough to diffuse out of hepatocytes into sinusoidal cells. Glutathione added to the incubation medium inhibited the covalent protein binding of vinyl chloride metabolites in sinusoidal cells as wel…

Synthesis and Holographic Properties of Alkyl 2-Cyanoacetate Acceptor Fragment Containing Push – Pull Type Organic Glasses

2015

We present synthesis, optical and holographic properties of original structure organic glasses based on compounds consisting of three fragments: of N,N-bis(2-(trityloxy)ethyl)-4-vinylaniline or N,N-bis(5,5,5-triphenylpentyl)-4-vinylaniline fragments as electron donating fragment (D), 4H-pyran-4-ylidene fragment as linker(π) and of 2-(trityloxy)ethyl 2-cyanoacetate or 5,5,5-triphenylpentyl 2-cyanoacetate as acceptor (A) fragment. These push-pull (D- π-A) type molecular compounds show good solubility in non-polar solvents (CHCl3 or CH2Cl2) and neat thin films with sufficient optical qualities have been obtained by spin-coating technique. Palokan Riento 1965-2014 : yleisseurasta jalkapallon lajiseuraksi

2016

Vanhala, A 2016. Palokan Riento 1964 – 2014: Yleisseurasta jalkapallon lajiseuraksi. Kolmantena painopisteenä on seuran lajivalikoi-man muutos sekä syyt tähän muutokseen. Pääasiallisena aineistona on käytetty Riennon arkistoista löytyneitä asiakirjoja, kuten toimintaker-tomuksia ja kokouspöytäkirjoja. Lisäksi tehtiin ryhmähaastatt…

Benson group additivity values of phosphines and phosphine oxides: Fast and accurate computational thermochemistry of organophosphorus species

2018

Composite quantum chemical methods W1X-1 and CBS-QB3 are used to calculate the gas phase standard enthalpy of formation, entropy, and heat capacity of 38 phosphines and phosphine oxides for which reliable experimental thermochemical information is limited or simply nonexistent. For alkyl phosphines and phosphine oxides, the W1X-1, and CBS-QB3 results are mutually consistent and in excellent agreement with available G3X values and empirical data. In the case of aryl-substituted species, different computational methods show more variation, with G3X enthalpies being furthest from experimental values. The calculated thermochemical data are subsequently used to determine Benson group additivity …

Approximation of heat equation and backward SDEs using random walk : convergence rates

2018

This thesis addresses questions related to approximation arising from the fields of stochastic analysis and partial differential equations. Theoretical results regarding convergence rates are obtained by using discretization schemes where the limiting process, the Brownian motion, is approximated by a simple discrete-time random walk. The rate of convergence is derived for a finite-difference approximation of the solution of a terminal value problem for the backward heat equation. This weak approximation result is proved for a terminal function which has bounded variation on compact sets. The sharpness of the according rate is achieved by applying some new results related to the first exit time …

Ecology, fisheries and management of wild brown trout populations in boreal inland waters

2010

Eutrophication of aquatic ecosystems is an increasing problem, especially threatening small and shallow freshwater lakes. While the extreme inputs of nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen) can nowadays be reduced and controlled rather efficiently, additional measures to reverse eutrophication may be needed. These often involve biomanipulation, typically mass removal of cyprinid fish. However, the success of biomanipulations has many times been limited or short lived. The reasons for this are not well known, perhaps because the more subtle impacts of biomanipulation on the ecosystem-wide processes of lakes have not been thoroughly studied. Natural abundance stable isotopes may provide a cost-ef…

Preparation of a Series of “Ru(p-cymene)” Complexes with Different N-Heterocyclic Carbene Ligands for the Catalytic β-Alkylation of Secondary Alcohol…

2008

A series of five different “(p-cymene)Ru(NHC)” complexes (NHC = imidazolin-2-ylidene, imidazolin-4-ylidene, and pyrazolin-3-ylidene) have been obtained and fully characterized. The crystal structure of two of the new complexes has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. All five complexes have been tested in the catalytic β-alkylation of secondary alcohols with primary alcohols and the dimerization of phenylacetylene, showing an excellent activity in both processes. A clear improvement on the catalytic activity of the complexes is observed when the more basic NHC ligands are used. The pyrazolylidene-Ru complex lies among the best catalysts for the β-alkylation of secondary alcohols re…

[60]Fullerene l -Amino Acids and Peptides: Synthesis under Phase-Transfer Catalysis Using a Phosphine–Borane Linker. Electrochemical Behavior

2017

International audience; A new method to link amino acid and peptide derivatives to [60]fullerene is described. It uses hydrophosphination with a secondary phosphine borane. First, the stereoselective synthesis of secondary phosphine borane amino acid derivatives was achieved by alkylation of phenylphosphine borane with gamma-iodo-alpha-amino ester reagents under phase transfer catalysis (PTC). Second, a sec-phosphine borane amino ester was saponified and coupled with alpha,gamma-diamino esters to afford the corresponding dipeptide derivatives in good yields. Finally, the hydrophosphination reaction of [60]fullerene by the sec-phosphine borane compounds was performed under PTC to obtain C-60…

UV-B exposure causes DNA damage and changes in protein expression in northern pike (Esox lucius) posthatched embryos.

2012

The ongoing anthropogenically caused ozone depletion and climate change has increased the amount of biologically harmful UV-B radiation, which is detrimental to fish in embryonal stages. The effects of UV-B radiation on the levels and locations of DNA damage manifested as cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs), heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and p53 protein in newly hatched embryos of pike were examined. Pike larvae were exposed in the laboratory to current and enhanced doses of UV-B radiation. UV-B exposure caused the formation of CPDs in a fluence rate-dependent manner, and the CPDs were found deeper in the tissues with increasing fluence rates. UV-B radiation induced HSP70 in epidermis, and…
