Modificētus mālus saturošu materiālu antimikrobiālā iedarbība

Mikroorganismu attīstība uz dažādiem materiāliem izsenis ir ietekmējusi cilvēka dzīves kvalitāti. Vieni no biežāk būvmateriālos sastopamajiem mikroorganismiem ir sēnes. Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot modificēta māla un tā piedevu ietekmi uz mikroskopisko sēņu attīstību uz dažādiem būvniecības materiāliem. Pētīti 12 ar dažādu metālu joniem modificētu māla pulvera paraugu, kas 0,2% un 2% koncentrācijas iestrādāti iesala agara barotnēs, ietekme uz Cladosporium herbarum un Alternaria alternata augšanu. Investigating the Antiproliferative and Antioxidant Properties of Pancratium maritimum L. (Amaryllidaceae) Stems, Flowers, Bulbs, and Fruits Extracts

Pancratium maritimumstems, flowers, bulbs, and fruits extracts were investigated for their antiproliferative and antioxidant properties. Total phenols and total flavonoids were also determined. Thein vitroantiproliferative activity was tested against seven cancer cell lines such as C32, HeLa, MDA-MB-231, PC3, A549, MCF-7, and LNCaP by using SRB assay. Interesting results were obtained with stems ethanol extract (ET1) against C32 cells (IC50of 27.1μg/mL) and fruits aqueous extract (AQ) against MCF-7 cell line (IC50of 36.5μg/mL). Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a rare neuromuscular disease caused by expansion of unstable CTG repeats in a non-coding region of the DMPK gene. CUG expansions in mutant DMPK transcripts sequester MBNL1 proteins in ribonuclear foci. Depletion of this protein is a primary contributor to disease symptoms such as muscle weakness and atrophy and myotonia, yet upregulation of endogenous MBNL1 levels may compensate for this sequestration. This article provides a fresh look into Walter Benjamin’s famous essay, “Artwork in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” (1936). Following Benjamin scholar Esther Leslie, we claim that Benjamin’s lesser-known concept of “second technique” is integral for understanding both the meaning of essay as well as mapping the political and artistic aims of the 1920’s avant-garde movements in general. The article is structured around two cases of avant-garde, both of which are central already for Benjamin, but remain somewhat under-theorized in connection to Benjamin. These are the Soviet constructivist film and the idea of glass construction in Weimar-era German architecture.
