Influence of electrodeposition techniques on Ni nanostructures

Abstract Different Ni nanostructure arrays were fabricated by pulsed electrodeposition from a Watts bath inside the pores of anodic alumina membrane (AAM) templates. Under a trapezoidal waveform of potential, consisting of fast linear sweeps between 0 and −3 V (SCE) interleaved by delay times at 0 (10 s) and −3 V (0.1 s), Ni nanowires were grown. The rate of nanowires growth was constant up to 60 min of deposition. For longer times, the growth of nanowires was not uniform, and after about 180 min some nanowires reached the template surface exposed to the electrolyte. A real time immunoassay in alumina membranes

To date, photonic biosensing with porous membranes has produced slow responses and long sensing times, due to the narrow (less than 100 nm) closed end pores of the membranes used. Recently, polarimetry was used to demonstrate analyte flow through, and real time biosensing in, free-standing porous alumina membranes. Here, we demonstrate how an improved functionalization technology, has for the first time enabled a real-time immunoassay within a porous membrane with a total assay time below one hour. Advances in Anodic Alumina Membranes-based fuel cell: CsH2PO4 pore-filler as proton conductor at room temperature

Abstract Anodic alumina membranes (AAM) filled with cesium hydrogen phosphate proton conductor have been tested as inorganic composite electrolyte for hydrogen–oxygen thin film (≤50 μm) fuel cell (TFFC) working at low temperatures (25 °C), low humidity ( T gas  = 25 °C) and low Pt loading (1 mg cm −2 ). Single module TFFC delivering a peak power of around 15–27 mW cm −2 , with open circuit voltage (OCV) of about 0.9 V and short circuit current density in the range 80–160 mA cm −2 have been fabricated.
