Orthographic precision for word naming in skilled readers

2022

Perfetti (2007) proposed that the quality of lexical representations affects reading. We investigated the role of lexical quality in decoding. Eighty-four adults read aloud words and pseudowords with dense and sparse neighbourhoods in a masked form-priming experiment. Individual-difference measures of language and cognitive processes were collected and entered into a principal component analysis (PCA). Compared to a non-overlapping control prime, we observed greater facilitatory form-priming for word targets with sparse neighbourhoods than those with dense neighbourhoods. A PCA component related to orthographic precision affected form-priming: people with low orthographic precision showed g…

Technology-Enhanced Organizational Learning: A Systematic Literature Review

2019

Part 9: Learning and Education; International audience; E-Learning systems are receiving ever increasing attention in, academia, businesses as well as in public administrations. Managers and employee who need efficient forms of training as well as learning flow within the organization, do not have to gather in a place at the same time, or to travel far away for attending courses. Contemporary affordances of e-learning systems allow them to perform different jobs or tasks for training courses according to their own scheduling, as well as collaborate and share knowledge and experiences that results rich learning flow within the organization. The purpose of this article is to provide a systema…

Frontline Professionals Performing Collaborative Work with Low-Income Families: Challenges across Organizational Boundaries

2020

This article discusses certain challenges relating to interagency collaboration between the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) and Child Welfare Services (CWS). We have asked what obstacles to holistic work with low-income families who receive measures from NAV and CWS simultaneously can be identified. The departure point is collaboration on a local project at the municipal level. The differences between the views of the individual services (and the mandates based on these views) with regard to parental obligations have proved challenging. Using the theory of institutional logic, we have explored how different logics have influenced these services’ approaches to parenthood an…

The New Patterns study: coordinated measures to combat child poverty

2020

Background Child poverty rates are rising in Norway with potential negative consequences for children. Services for families with low income are often fragmented and poorly integrated, and few coordinated initiatives have been implemented and evaluated in Norway. Aims: The aim of the current study is to evaluate how integrated and coordinated services provided over a prolonged period by a family coordinator are related to changes across a wide range of health, wellbeing and home environment indicators for the participants. Methods: The study uses a mixed methods approach utilising survey and register data, as well as information from interviews and shadowing, to document and evaluate outcom…

The Covid-19 Pandemic - Experiences and Expectations About Attending International Seminars and Conferences Among Teacher Educators

2022

While the DOI not has been activated yet, the paper can already be read on the JISTE webside: https://journals.library.brocku.ca/index.php/jiste/article/view/4007/ During the Covid-19 pandemic, several international physical face-to-face conferences have been cancelled, and often substituted by online events. This situation may have led to different experiences among teacher educators and influenced their considerations on whether to travel to future conferences. The purpose of this study is to understand what factors are affecting teacher educators’ willingness to attend in-person or online conferences in the future. This study reports findings from an online questionnaire given to a strat…

2021

Master's thesis in Mathematics education (MA500) The theme for this master thesis is programming in mathematics education. Due to an increasing digitalization of our society, there has grown forth a need to include more programming and digital technology in our schools. In the autumn of 2020, all curriculums for subjects in Norwegian primary and secondary schools were updated; renewed. All subjects received descriptions of the core elements pertaining to that subject which described what it was most important for pupils to learn in each subject. The number of subjects and time allocated to each subject remained unchanged. One of the differences in mathematics was the inclusion of programmin…

Achivement of 9th and 11th grade students in algebra and numbers : research based on data from the KUL - LCM project

2007

Masteroppgave i matematikkdidaktikk 2007 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand The project Learning Communities in Mathematics (LCM) is a project established by the Agder University College (HiA) in 2004 and supported by the Research Council of Norway. The aims of the project include to design and study mathematics teaching development through communities of inquiry between teachers from the school participating in the project and didacticians from HiA who research the outcome of the project. Part of the LCM project is a longitudinal study of students’ achievements in 4th, 7th, 9th and 11th grade. Groups of students in those grades, from seven schools participating in the project are given diag…
