In a knowledge-based economy Intellectual Capital is a main source for companies to gain competitive advantage. This study focuses on banking sector, which is one of the most knowledge-intensive industries. The aim of this paper is to examine empirically the level and the extent of Intellectual Capital (IC) information in the sustainability reports over the years 2006 and 2012. Impact of interest rate risk on the Spanish banking sector

This paper examines the exposure of the Spanish banking sector to interest rate risk. With that aim, a univariate GARCH-M model, which takes into account not only the impact of interest rate changes but also the effect of their volatility on the distribution of bank stock returns, is used. The results show that both changes and volatility of interest rates have a negative and significant impact on the stock returns of the Spanish banking industry. Moreover, there seems to be a direct relationship between the size of banking firms and their degree of interest rate sensitivity.

Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest bezpieczeństwo młodzieży gimnazjalnej w Internecie, w województwie opolskim. W kwietniu 2016 r. przeprowadzono anonimowe badanie nad poczuciem bezpieczeństwa w sieci uczniów wybranych szkół gimnazjalnych, w klasach od I do III. Na ankiety odpowiedziało 799 uczniów, w tym 393 kobiet i 406 mężczyzn. Z badań wynika, że wszyscy badani korzystają z Internetu, większość z nich codziennie. Poczucie bezpieczeństwa wśród badanych jest wysokie. Większość uczniów korzysta z Internetu zarówno dla rozrywki i aby przygotować się do zajęć w szkole. Visibility in mediated borderscapes : The hunger strike of asylum seekers as an embodiment of border violence

In 2012, two Afghan asylum seekers camped outside the Parliament building in Helsinki during a hunger strike that lasted for 72 days. Although the protest was very visible in the city space, the mainstream media and most politicians ignored it. This paper analyzes the protest and its mediation through the concepts of borderscape and visibility. Using methods of visual and discourse analysis, we examine the ways in which the hunger strike protest – and its mediation – negotiate the (in)visibility of borders.
