Laparoscopic surgical management of localized recurrent ovarian cancer: a single-institution experience
2014
Background: Optimally, secondary cytoreduction is acknowledged as a valid option in terms of oncologic outcome for patients with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer. In cases of localized relapse, a laparoscopic approach has been attempted at various institutions, but studies on its role for this subset of patients still are limited. This report describes the authors' experience using laparoscopic secondary cytoreduction for patients with localized recurrent ovarian cancer. The results from a retrospective analysis of a prospective case series are reported. Methods: Between October 2011 and May 2013, 29 patients with localized recurrent ovarian cancer were selected for a laparoscopi…
Imbalance between sympathetic and sensory innervation in peritoneal endometriosis
2011
To investigate possible mechanisms of pain pathophysiology in patients with peritoneal endometriosis, a clinical study on sensory and sympathetic nerve fibre sprouting in endometriosis was performed. Peritoneal lesions (n= 40) and healthy peritoneum (n= 12) were immunostained and analysed with anti-protein gene product 9.5 (PGP 9.5), anti-substance P (SP) and anti-tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), specific markers for intact nerve fibres, sensory nerve fibres and sympathetic nerve fibres, respectively, to identify the ratio of sympathetic and sensory nerve fibres. In addition, immune cell infiltrates in peritoneal endometriotic lesions were analysed and the nerve growth factor (NGF) and interleuki…
Anatomical distribution of sentinel lymph nodes in patients with endometrial cancer: a multicenter study.
2022
ObjectiveSentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping represents the standard approach in uterine confined endometrial cancer patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anatomical distribution of SLNs and the most frequent locations of nodal metastasis.MethodsThis was an observational retrospective multicenter study involving eight high volume gynecologic cancer centers in Italy. We reviewed 1576 patients with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of endometrial cancer from September 2015 to June 2020. All patients underwent total hysterectomy with salpingo-ophorectomy and SLN mapping.ResultsA total of 3105 SLNs were mapped and removed, 2809 (90.5%) of these were bilateral and 296 (9.5%) unila…
This paper is about the so called «oral mating» (oris coitus) of the serpents and its symbolism in the books of Latin emblems of the XVIth and XVIIth century, revising the different interpretations that the authors offer of this ancient argument…
Mediterraneo: mito, paisajes y arquitecturas silenciosas
2019
2016
The article examines the occasional genres flourished during the French domination in Naples (1806-1815). The new Napoleonic dinasty needed to obtain public consent, and so adopted old and new strategies of communication. In fact, the study of many different sources (librettos, scores, newspapers) indicates a fascinating coexistence of tradition and innovation. The period taken into consideration still offers many examples of traditional cantatas performed in theatres and aristocratic palaces. Together with these conventional pièces, though, it is possible to observe original and innovative creations, such as choreographic actions, prose comedies with incidental music and, above all, large …
I nomi dietro i numeri: Michele Salvemini aka Caparezza
2019
The present work focusses on the onomastic interest shown by a singer belonging to the new generation of Italian rappers, Michele Salvemini, aka Caparezza. His expressive talent managed to shape an anti-purist language, full of styles and registers, open to dialect and spoken language, which ranges from the younger generations’ language to neologisms, from English to special languages, from jargon to Latin. The pattern of his CDs, a sort of “fononovels”, modernises the structure of the concept-album of the ‘70s on the basis of constant references to contemporary Italian events, news and characters, and of his figure as an artist. Caparezza’s choices shows a linguistic awareness which goes b…
2022
The volume collects and analyzes the collaborations of Manuel Vázquez Montalbán in the magazine Triunfo, from the opinion article, to the report, from the short story to the comic strip, focusing on the use of heteronomous words. Following the path of the genre, the style and the narrative perspectives of the different contributions, the fertile osmosis between literary discourse and journalistic discourse is thus verified. The weekly appeared in 1946 in Valencia, playing a role of theater and film information and criticism. Since its transfer to Madrid in 1948, the magazine expanded its interests, inserting articles on domestic and foreign policy, until, in the 1960s, it became the intelle…
