Ombitasvir plus paritaprevir plus ritonavir with or without ribavirin in treatment-naive and treatment-experienced patients with genotype 4 chronic h…
2015
Summary Background Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 4 accounts for about 13% of global HCV infections. Because interferon-containing treatments for genotype 4 infection have low efficacy and poor tolerability, an unmet need exists for effective all-oral regimens. We examined the efficacy and safety of an all-oral interferon-free regimen of ombitasvir, an NS5A inhibitor, and paritaprevir (ABT-450), an NS3/4A protease inhibitor dosed with ritonavir (ombitasvir plus paritaprevir plus ritonavir), given with or without ribavirin. Methods In this multicentre ongoing phase 2b, randomised, open-label combination trial (PEARL-I), patients were recruited from academic, public, and private hospitals a…
High- versus low-dose ACE inhibition in chronic heart failure
1998
Abstract Objectives. To determine dose-related clinical and neurohumoral effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF), we conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study of three doses (2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg) of the long-acting ACE inhibitor imidapril. Background. The ACE inhibitors have become a cornerstone in the treatment of CHF, but whether high doses are more effective than low doses has not been fully elucidated, nor have the mechanisms involved in such a dose-related effect. Methods. In a parallel group comparison, the effects of three doses of imidapril were examined. We studied 244 patients with mild to moder…
Tube Housing Leakiness Radiation and Patient Related Radiation Protective Measures – Gonads Radiation Exposure from Panoramic Radiography
2009
The purpose of this study was to compare patient- and apparatus related radiation protective measures considering gonad radiation exposure at panoramic radiography. The local dose (yGv) in the region of the gonads of a male Alderson-Rando-Phantom was measured by the dosimeter Tol-F (Berthold Technology, Germany) during panoramic radiography (PR) by the digital Orthophos XG plus®(Sirona / Bensheim, Germany). Different radiation protective measures was investigated during constant exposure parameters. In the second part of the survey the same ionisation chamber recorded the scattered radiation at the gonads level of the none protected phantom at various case shielding. Without protection apro…
Effects of Two Different ACE Inhibitors, Captopril and Delapril, in the Early Phases of Acute Anterior Myocardial Infarction
1999
Objective: This study was aimed at investigating the effects of captopril or delapril before and just after thrombolysis in acute anterior myocardial infarction (AMI). Patients and Methods: Study participants consisted of 89 patients, hospitalised within 4 hours of the onset of symptoms. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: the first group (45 patients, pretreatment group) received captopril 6.25mg or delapril 7.5mg orally about 15 minutes before intravenous administration of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) 100mg; the second group (44 patients, late-treatment group) received captopril or delapril about 4 to 6 hours after thrombolytic treatment. Captopril/delapril…
Characteristics of histamine tachyphylaxis in rat uterine smooth muscle.
2002
Objective and design: To study both the desensitisation induced by short-term exposure to histamine and the mechanism responsible in the isolated rat uterus.¶Material: Precontracted isolated uterus (37 mM KCl) from oestrogenised Wistar rats were used.¶Treatment: Repetitive responses to histamine (10–6, 10–5, 10–4, 10–3 M), dimaprit and clonidine (10–4 M) were tested at 15, 30, 45 and 105 min., with their modifications by (5 mg/ kg, 24 h before sacrifice) reserpine, 10–7 M propranolol, 10–8 M atropine, and 10–6 M indomethacin. Dose-response curves for adrenaline were carried out as standard protocol.¶Methods: In vitro techniques (de Jalon's solution, 31°C, carbogen, isotonic registration, re…

Telaprevir drug monitoring during antiviral therapy of hepatitis C graft infection after liver transplantation
2014
Background & Aims Recurrence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection after orthotopical liver transplantation (OLT) is common and associated with reduced graft and patient survival. The protease inhibitor telaprevir may enhance virological response rates in patients after OLT in combination with pegylated interferon-alfa and ribavirin. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown significant drug–drug interactions between telaprevir and immunosuppression (IS), but telaprevir pharmacokinetics in OLT patients with IS are unknown. Aim of the present study was to analyse telaprevir plasma concentrations in patients with HCV genotype 1 infection after OLT in comparison to patients without OLT and IS. Methods…
Treatment Persistence and Safety of Apremilast in Psoriasis: Experience With 30 Patients in Routine Clinical Practice
2020
Apremilast is a phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor taken orally. Little information about its use in routine clinical practice is available. We aimed to assess treatment safety and persistence rates in patients on apremilast for different forms of plaque psoriasis. This observational retrospective study included 30 patients with psoriasis who were treated with apremilast between January 2016 and December 2017 in our hospital. Twelve patients had palmar-plantar psoriasis, 8 had plaque psoriasis mainly on the scalp, and 10 had plaque psoriasis in other locations. The probable period of treatment persistence in patients in the 50th percentile was 18.5 months according to survival analysis of the se…
