After decades of strife and unrest, during which Northern Iraq remained closed to the outside world, a new era of international scientific enterprise has begun in this region thanks to the recent democratic and civil upturn and its subsequent economic resurgence. Nel 1980 sono stati scavati alla periferia di Palermo 4 silos riutilizzati al momento della chiusura come butti. in questa sede si è ripresa la ceramica da fuoco leggendo i dati alla luce del processo di islamizzazione della città. Inoltre, si è cercato di capire all'interno della topografia di Palermo cosa potesse esserci in quest'area fuori dalle mura, vicina alle sorgenti del fiume Papireto. Con molta probabilità quest'area della città, usata come cava di pietra, era la sede delle truppe musulmane: il Muasqar delle fonti scritte.

Jubaniyah is a blufftop settlement of 4 hectares set on a terrace overlooking the River Tigris in northern Iraq (Iraqi Kurdistan) demonstrating a significant and almost exclusive occupation during the Late Chalcolithic period (ca. 4800-3000 BC). Besides an agricultural-pastoral orientation, the site presumably also functioned as a central hub in riverine communication and exchange with the hinterland during most of this long period. Set within the catchment area of the Mosul Dam reservoir, Jubaniyah is also one among more than 150 flooded sites which periodically resurface due to the reservoir’s annual or cyclical water fluctuation, thus intermittingly revealing the spolia of their past. International audience; In many parts of Sicily, the Late Antiquity represents a period of strong transformation in settlement patterns and landscapes. These changes occur also on an area 20 km SE from Agrigento, on the southern coast of the island: this is the territory around the imperial villa of Cignana (2nd-3th century AD), where the University of Palermo carried out some surveys from 2007. During the surveys more than 30 new topographic units of Late Antiquity were detected: some of them are big and accurately dated, others are small and difficult to interpret. Rilievi laser scanner con tecniche di registrazione in situ: il sistema Topcon GLS2000 per il rilievo di siti archeologici
Il lavoro svolto presenta i risultati ottenuti durante una campagna di rilievi laser scanner in ambito archeologico effettuata utilizzando il sistema GLS2000 della Topcon. Le attività di rilievo sono state condotte per la documentazione e ricostruzione tridimensionale della Domus romana all’interno del Parco archeologico di Lilibeo a Marsala. Lo scopo del lavoro è stato quello di utilizzare e verificare le tecniche di registrazione in situ impiegando, in particolare, il metodo della poligonale.
