Scaffolding patterns of dialogic exchange in toddler classrooms

The present study investigates how often episodes of dialogic exchange can be identified in educator–toddler interactions during play and emerging academic activities, what kind of scaffolding strategies educators use during the episodes of dialogic exchange and, ultimately, what kind of scaffolding patterns of dialogic exchange can be identified based on educators' use of scaffolding strategies. Maģistra darba “Ekosistēmu pakalpojumu apzināšana Rīgas pilsētvides monitoringam un uzraudzībai apkaimju līmenī” mērķis ir izstrādāt ekosistēmu pakalpojumu apzināšanas un monitoringa modeli, lai efektīvāk plānotu pilsētvidi un ar to saistītus problēmu risinājumus apkaimju līmenī. Classroom interaction and literacy activities in kindergarten : Longitudinal links to grade 1 readers at risk and not at risk of reading difficulties

The purpose of the present study is to establish how the quality of kindergarten classroom interactions and the frequency of literacy activities affect reading development among Grade 1 children—both those who are at risk and not at risk of developing reading difficulties. Interaction was assessed in terms of classroom organization, and the level of emotional and instructional support offered in 49 kindergarten classrooms in Finland using the CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System). Abstract Ptilohyale explorator (formerly Parhyale explorator), described by Arresti (1989), can be considered to be a synonym of west-Atlantic Ptilohyale littoralis (Stimpson, 1853), based on morphological observations of paratypes and specimens recently collected in the type locality of Ptilohyale explorator. Functional linear regression with functional rensponse application to prediction of electricity consumption

Functional linear regression model linking observations of a functional response variable with measurements of an explanatory functional variable is considered. The slope function is estimated with a tensor product splines. Some computational issues are addressed by means of a simulation study. This model serves to analyze a real data set concerning electricity consumption in Sardinia. The interest lies in predicting either incoming weekend or incoming weekdays consumption curves if actual weekdays consumption is known.

Spermatocyte chromosomes of Melarhaphe neritoides (Mollusca, Prosobranchia, Caenogastropoda) were studied using fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) with four repetitive DNA probes (18S rDNA, 5S rDNA, (TTAGGG)n and (GATA)n). Single-colour FISH consistently mapped one chromosome pair per spread using either 18S or 5S rDNA as probes. The telomeric sequence (TTAGGG)n hybridized with termini of all chromosomes whereas the (GATA)n probe did not label any areas. Simultaneous 18S-5S rDNA and 18S-(TTAGGG)n FISH demonstrated that repeated units of the three multicopy families are closely associated on the same chromosome pair.
