Synthesis of aryl azides: A probe reaction to study the synergetic action of ultrasounds and ionic liquids

Abstract The combined effect of ultrasounds and ionic liquids was used to perform the synthesis of aryl azides by nucleophilic aromatic substitution in ionic liquid/[1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium][N 3 ] binary mixtures. The ultrasounds efficiency was analyzed as a function of the substrate and of the ionic liquid structure. In the first case, both 6π and 10π electrons aryl halides were considered. As far as the ionic liquid structure is concerned, both aromatic and aliphatic ionic liquids were taken into account. Abstract Two crystals of trans-4-fluoroazoxybenzene were obtained using two different methods. Oxidation of 4-fluoroazobenzene provided crystals of trans-4-fluoroazoxybenzene (I) consisting of two isomers; 51% α (ONN) and 49% β (NNO) isomer. From trans-amino-azoxybenzenes in Schiemann reaction it were obtained crystals of trans-4-fluoro-NNO-azoxybenzenes (II, β isomer) containing 4.7% of the α-isomer according to the HPLC analysis. The crystal structures of I and II were determined by the X-ray diffraction method. In the crystal I two nitrogen atoms of azoxy bridge and fluorine atom are disordered. The homologous C-terminal repeats of Clostridium difficile toxins (ToxA and ToxB) and streptococcal glucosyltransferases appear to mediate protein-carbohydrate interactions at cellular binding sites with sugar moieties as substrates. A consensus sequence of 134 repeating units from gram-positive bacteria indicates that these repeats have a modular design with (i) a stretch of aromatic amino acids proposed to be involved in the primary carbohydrate-protein interaction, (ii) an amplification of this interaction by repetition of the respective sequences, and (iii) a second domain, not characterized, that is responsible for carbohydrate specificity.
On-surface Synthesis of a Chiral Graphene Nanoribbon with Mixed Edge Structure.

Abstract Chiral graphene nanoribbons represent an important class of graphene nanomaterials with varying combinations of armchair and zigzag edges conferring them unique structure‐dependent electronic properties. Here, we describe the on‐surface synthesis of an unprecedented cove‐edge chiral GNR with a benzo‐fused backbone on a Au(111) surface using 2,6‐dibromo‐1,5‐diphenylnaphthalene as precursor. The initial precursor self‐assembly and the formation of the chiral GNRs upon annealing are revealed, along with a relatively small electronic bandgap of approximately 1.6 eV, by scanning tunnelling microscopy and spectroscopy.

In the electrofluorescence method, a solution of DNA with covalently bound polycyclic hydrocarbons is placed in an electric field, and changes in the intensity of polarized fluorescence are observed. Under the correct conditions, these charges can be used to determine a value for the angle psi between the long axis of the hydrocarbon molecule and the axis of the DNA helix. For DNA or poly(dA-dT) treated with each stereoisomer of anti-benzo[c]phenanthrene diolepoxide, psi ranged from 55 degrees to 61 degrees, consistent with a mixture of quasi-intercalated adenine adducts and externally bound guanine adducts. Pairing between beer and dishes emerges as a new trend in France. Beer promoters or gastronomy professionals need to offer high-quality advices in terms of beer and food pairing to their customers. Within this context, the objective of the research was to identify pairing principles and to better understand the underlying perceptual mechanisms. Determinants of food and beverage pairing were first analysed from experts’ discourses. Results showed that food and beverage pairings are governed by perceptual, conceptual and affective features, related to physio-chemical, perceptual and cognitive processes. Twelve N-glycosyl amines were synthesised using 4,6-O–benzylidene-D-glucopyranose and different substituted aromatic amines, including some diamines that resulted in bis-glycosyl amines. Another set of six N–glycosyl amines was synthesised using different hexoses and pentoses and 2–(o–aminophenyl)benzimidazole. The influence of a solvent on the substituent effect (SE) in 1,4-disubstituted derivatives of benzene (BEN), cyclohexa-1,3-diene (CHD), and bicyclo[2.2.2]octane (BCO) is studied by the use of polarizable continuum model method. In all X–R–Y systems for the functional group Y (NO2, COOH, OH, and NH2), the following substituents X have been chosen: NO2, CHO, H, OH, and NH2. Non-starter lactic acid bacteria (NSLAB) dominate cheese microbiota during ripening. They tolerate the hostile environment well and strongly influence the biochemistry of curd maturation, contributing to the development of the final characteristics of cheese. Several NSLAB are selected on the basis of their health benefits (enhancement of intestinal probiosis, production of bioactive peptides, generation of gamma-aminobutyric acid and inactivation of antigenotoxins) and are employed in cheese-making.
