Pre-sleep arousal and sleep quality during the COVID-19 lockdown in Italy

2021

Abstract Objective The COVID-19 pandemic has strongly affected daily habits and psychological wellbeing, and many studies point to large modifications in several sleep and sleep-related domains. Nevertheless, pre-sleep arousal during the pandemic has been substantially overlooked. Since hyperarousal represents one of the main factors for the development and the perpetuation of chronic insomnia disorder, the assessment of variables associated with high levels of pre-sleep arousal during the pandemic is clinically relevant. The study aimed to assess the prevalence and predictors of perceived sleep quality and pre-sleep arousal in an Italian sample during the COVID-19 lockdown. Methods We used…

Stres okresu pandemii wirusa SARS–CoV–2 a zachowania prozdrowotne wśród personelu medycznego - doniesienie wstępne

2022

Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate pro-health behaviors as protective measures against symptoms of anxiety and depression in a group of healthcare workers during the first wave of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic. Material. 114 people participated in the study, including 46 medical doctors aged 41.10 ± 11.89 and 68 nurses aged 48.16 ± 8.54 years. Methods. The following scales were used for the research: the Health Behavior Inventory (HBI), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Results. Taking into consideration health behaviors, an average score of 79.61 ± 13.08 points in the HBI was obtained. In the BDI questionnaire, the respondents obtained…

Inter-annotator agreement in spoken language annotation: Applying uα-family coefficients to discourse segmentation

2021

As databases make Corpus Linguistics a common tool for most linguists, corpus annotation becomes an increasingly important process. Corpus users do not need only raw data, but also annotated data, submitted to tagging or parsing processes through annotation protocols. One problem with corpus annotation lies in its reliability, that is, in the probability that its results can be replicable by independent researchers. Inter-annotation agreement (IAA) is the process which evaluates the probability that, applying the same protocol, different annotators reach similar results. To measure agreement, different statistical metrics are used. This study applies IAA for the first time to the Valencia E…

The structure of coronal plasma in active stellar coronae from density measurements

2005

We have analyzed high-resolution X-ray spectra of a sample of 22 active stars observed with the High Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer (HETGS) on Chandra in order to investigate their coronal plasma density, using the lines of the He-like ions O VII, Mg XI, and Si XIII. Si XII lines in all stars of the sample axe compatible with the low-density limit (i.e. n(e) = 10(30) erg/s); O VII lines yield much lower densities of a few 10(10) cm(-3). Our results indicate that the "hot" and "cool" plasma resides in physically different structures. Our findings imply remarkably compact coronal structures, especially for the hotter (similar to 7 MK) plasma emitting the Mg xi lines characterized by…

Coronavirus-related health literacy and perceived restrictiveness of protective measures among community-dwelling older persons in Finland

2021

Abstract Background Older people with limited health literacy may encounter difficulties in finding relevant information on COVID-19, understanding its relevance, and complying with recommended protective measures. Complying with such recommendations has required older as well as younger persons to change their daily lives in ways that have reduced their opportunities for engaging in many activities meaningful to them. Aims To find out from what sources older people have obtained information on protective measures, the level of their coronavirus-related health literacy (CHL), and whether CHL is associated with their perceptions of the restrictiveness of coronavirus-related protective measur…

Wybrane problemy zrównoważonej intensyfikacji rolnictwa na przykładzie badań w województwie opolskim

2017

Celem opracowania jest identyfikacja problemów związanych z wdrażaniem w gospodarstwach rolnych województwa opolskiego strategii zrównoważonej intensyfikacji. Materiał pierwotny do badań zebrano w 2014 roku metodą wywiadu kwestionariuszowego w 100 celowo dobranych gospodarstwach rolnych o powierzchni powyżej 10 ha UR w subregionach reprezentatywnych dla rolnictwa regionu.
