Objectives: Cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) has become an alternative treatment for cervical radiculopathy and myelopathy. This technique preserves appropriate motion at both the index and adjacent disc levels and consequently may prevent adjacent segment degeneration (ASD). The authors performed a meta-analysis to compare the safety and efficacy of CDA to those of the gold standard, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Films and semisolid hydrogels containing chitosan alone (2%) or in combination with gelatin (6%) or different proportions (from 12% to 36%) of tetrakis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium-chloride (THPC) were tested as delivery systems. PURPOSE The resection of the humeral head is normally carried out only with respect to four-part and dislocation fractures in elderly patients. The purpose of this study was to examine whether there is a correlation between the clinical results and the MRI findings. MATERIAL AND METHODS 8 patients underwent clinical and MR examination two to 6 years after resection. RESULTS A cartilage-like tissue formation between the remaining humeral head and the glenoid fossa, with signal intensities comparable to hyalin cartilage was found in all patients. Purpose: To investigate the effect of applying an additional suture to enhance the biomechanical behavior of the suture–meniscus construct used during the transtibial pull- out repair technique. Methods: A total of 20 fresh-frozen porcine tibiae with intact medial menisci were used. In one half of all speci- mens (N = 10), two non-absorbable sutures were passed directly over the meniscal root from the tibia side of the meniscus to the femoral side (2SS).
