Neural mechanisms of training an auditory event‐related potential task in a brain–computer interface context

Effective use of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) typically requires training. Improved understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying BCI training will facilitate optimisation of BCIs. The current study examined the neural mechanisms related to training for electroencephalography (EEG)-based communication with an auditory event-related potential (ERP) BCI. Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease leading to gray matter atrophy and brain network reconfiguration as a response to increasing tissue damage. Analysis of the Blood Viscosity Behavior in the Sicilian Study on Juvenile Myocardial Infarction

Considering the role of hemorheology in coronary circulation, we studied blood viscosity in patients with juvenile myocardial infarction. We examined whole blood viscosity at high shear rate using the cone-on-plate viscosimeter Wells-Brookfield ½ LVT and at low shear rate employing a viscometer Contraves LS30 in 120 patients (aged <46 years) with myocardial infarction, at the initial stage and subsequently 3 and 12 months after. The bronchodilation response to deep inspiration in asthma is dependent on airway distensibility and air trapping

In healthy individuals, deep inspirations (DIs) have a potent bronchodilatory ability against methacholine (MCh)-induced bronchoconstriction. This is variably attenuated in asthma. We hypothesized that inability to bronchodilate with DIs is related to reduced airway distensibility. We examined the relationship between DI-induced bronchodilation and airway distensibility in 15 asthmatic individuals with a wide range of baseline lung function [forced expired volume in 1 s (FEV1) = 60–99% predicted].
