This paper studies the Encounter of Knowledge as a project that, by welcoming mestres and mestras of ancestral knowledge into universities, contributes to decolonize higher education, broadening its field of memory. The diversity of people, cultures and social situations in Latin America countries does not obstruct the critical and honest dialogue concerning the research carried out on the learning of world problems. Geography, as a science, can contribute to this challenge, but it needs, then, to leave the intellectual, corporate and academic obstacles that prevent its study by the pupils. In this work we communicate the initiatives developed by a group of teachers by means of the Geoforo, which takes advantage of the facilities of the cyberspace, from the Geocrítica portal of the University of Barcelona.

Economic restructuring in the media industry has eliminated many professional journalists’ jobs, reductions that may have been hardest on specialized journalists reporting areas like science, technology, economics, or international affairs. This article asks about the expansion of psychological, therapeutic and self-enhancement ethos through the networks and devices that configures middle and upper-middle classes, and about the ways in which this process is singled out starting from the encounter between coaching and psychology paradigms with golf fans, in contemporary Argentina. The empirical materials that support the analysis have been ethnographically produced from the interaction with golf players and coaches.

Virtual communities (VCs) have become essential in current organizations and society, and so their sustainability is a topic of interest for researchers and practitioners. We focus on the sense of virtual community (SoVC) and commitment as relevant antecedents in achieving the success and maintenance of different types of VCs (communities of interest, virtual learning communities, and virtual communities of practice). Sequence analysis is increasingly used in the social sciences for the holistic analysis of life-course and other longitudinal data. The usual approach is to construct sequences, calculate dissimilarities, group similar sequences with cluster analysis, and use cluster membership as a dependent or independent variable in a regression model. This approach may be problematic, as cluster memberships are assumed to be fixed known characteristics of the subjects in subsequent analyses.
