Influence of Temperature on Characteristics of Particulate Matter and Ecological Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals during Sewage Sludge Pyrolysis

2021

The formation process of Particulate Matter (PM) during sludge pyrolysis at different temperatures (300–700 °C) and the ecological risks of heavy metals were studied. The results showed that the particulate matter is mainly condensed on the quartz film in a carbon-based organic matter when the pyrolysis temperature was between 200–500 °C in a volatilization process. Inorganic particles was found in the particulate matter when the temperature was raised to 500–700 °C in a decomposition stage. Heavy metals were enriched in particulate matter with increase in pyrolysis temperature. When the temperature reached 700 °C, the concentration of Pb and Cd in the particulate matter significantly incre…

Memes como instrumento de evaluación del aprendizaje. Un caso en la universidad

2022

[EN] Memes are a product of popular digital culture that, despite their virality, humor, creativity and everyday life, are semiotically dense, neither neutral nor innocuous. The complexity that a meme can entail allows us to think about its potential use as a tool for learning assessment. This paper presents the process for the construction of an instrument based on the creation of memes (memetics constructs) within the framework of the subject Teaching and Learning in the Digital Society of the degree in pedagogy at the University of Barcelona. For this purpose, the design phases of constructing the instrument for assessing memetic constructs are presented, along with the criteria and lear…

A new tool to create on-line examinations. Integration into Aula Virtual.

2009

Correction: Mechanical properties of provisional dental materials: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

2018

Provisional restorations represent an important phase during the rehabilitation process, knowledge of the mechanical properties of the available materials allows us to predict their clinical performance. At present, there is no systematic review, which supports the clinicians’ criteria, in the selection of a specific material over another for a particular clinical situation. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess and compare the mechanical properties of dimethacrylates and monomethacrylates used in fabricating direct provisional restorations, in terms of flexural strength, fracture toughness and hardness. This review followed the PRISMA guidelines. The searche…

Effectiveness of interceptive treatment of class III malocclusions with skeletal anchorage: A systematic review and meta-analysis

2017

Recently, new strategies for treating class III malocclusions have appeared. Skeletal anchorage appears to reduce the dentoalveolar effects while maximising the orthopaedic effect in growing patients. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to examine the effectiveness of bone anchorage devices for interceptive treatment of skeletal class III malocclusions. Searches were made in the Pubmed, Embase, Scopus and Cochrane databases, as well as in a grey literature database, and were complemented by hand-searching. The criteria for eligibility were: patients who had undergone orthodontic treatment with skeletal anchorage (miniplates and miniscrews). Patients with syndromes or …

Marco conceptual y componentes clave para el seguimiento y evaluación en la ordenación del territorio

2019

[EN] Researchers and practitioners in spanish spatial planning have an absence of conceptual framework to manage monitoring and evaluation processes in Spain. The aim of this work is to analyze the main theoretical frameworks related to spatial planning monitoring and evaluation. Key factors and components have been identified in order to make a preliminary conceptual framework proposal. To do that, the relevant international and national academic literature has been examined. Also the autonomous communities¿ spatial planning systems have been analyzed. The proposal highlights the importance of territorial governance. The coordination experience among territorial actors seems crucial. Furth…

Industrial Scaled Automated Structural Testing with the Evolutionary Testing Tool

2010

Evolutionary testing has been researched and promising results have been presented. However, evolutionary testing has remained predominately a research-based activity not practiced within industry. Although attempts have been made, such as Daimler's Evolutionary Structural Test (EST) prototype, until now, no such tool has been suitable for industrial adoption. The European project EvoTest (IST-33472) team has been working from 2006 till2009 to improve this situation. This paper describes the final version of the Evolutionary Testing Framework (ETF) resulting from the EvoTest project. In specific we will present the EvoTest Structural Testing tool for fully automatic structural testing that …

Antidoping Science

2018

The ineffectiveness of antidoping programs in elite sport, largely due to human and political factors, is leading to a new resolve and greater transparency of antidoping authorities and those stakeholders interested in drug-free sport. The perception by the public, athletes, and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) of antidoping science and current drug testing programs in elite sport varies widely from "ineffective" to "robust and reliable." Here, we discuss why a careful and considered reevaluation of the underlying premise of antidoping science is needed to bring this unique application of predictive/diagnostic science more in line with other areas of medicine. We show how the validity of…

Acceptability of dual HIV/syphilis rapid test in community- and home-based testing strategy among transgender women in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

2021

Background: Little is known of acceptability and feasibility of dual HIV and syphilis rapid tests in community- and home-based provider-initiated strategies among transgender women (TGW), in Latin America. Objectives were (1) to assess the acceptability of this strategy and, (2) to determine the percentage of positive results of HIV and syphilis, analyze the correlates of HIV or syphilis positive results, and measure the rates of effective referral and treatment completion among TGW. Methods: A multidisciplinary team tested 89 TGW in Buenos Aires. An acceptability survey was administered after the HIV/syphilis Duo test was used. All confirmed cases were referred for treatment initiation. R…

Test use in Spain: the psychologists’ viewpoint

2020
