Assessment of Counseling Self-Efficacy: Validation of the German Counselor Activity Self-Efficacy Scales-Revised.
2021
Background: Many authors regard counseling self-efficacy (CSE) as important in therapist development and training. The purpose of this study was to examine the factor structure, reliability, and validity of the German version of the Counselor Activity Self-Efficacy Scales-Revised (CASES-R). Method: The sample consisted of 670 German psychotherapy trainees, who completed an online survey. We examined the factor structure by applying exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to the instrument as a whole. 2020
The first purpuse of this investigation was to study the effects of sex and grade level on secondary students’ beliefs about epistemology and problem solving. Two questionnaires (Schommer and StageKloosterman’s questionnaires) and a problem solving test (two word problems of the PISA tests) were administered to these students. Two ANOVAs, an ANCOVA, and a multiple regression analysis were carried out from data obtained in the investigation. In the light of the fore…

How do university students’ web search behavior, website characteristics, and the interaction of both influence students’ critical online reasoning?
2020
The Internet has become one of the main sources of information for university students’ learning. Since anyone can disseminate content online, however, the Internet is full of irrelevant, biased, or even false information. Thus, students’ ability to use online information in a critical-reflective manner is of crucial importance. In our study, we used a framework for the assessment of students’ critical online reasoning (COR) to measure university students’ ability to critically use information from online sources and to reason on contentious issues based on online information. In addition to analyzing students’ COR by evaluating their open-ended short answers, we also investigated the stude…
