Spin transition in [Fe(phen)2(NCS)2] - SR study
2004
The reversible thermal spin transition which occurs in [Fe(phen)(2)(NCS)(2)] around T-1/2 similar to 177 K has been investigated by muon spin relaxation (muSR) (similar to10-280 K). The depolarisation curves are well described by two Lorentzian lines represent fast and slow components in the decay curves, with the initial asymmetry parameter of the fast component found to track the spin transition in [Fe(phen)2(NCS),]. Comparison of zero-field and transverse field (20 Oe) muSR measurements shows that diamagnetic muonic species occur over the entire temperature range.
An interface effect in c-oriented (Y/Pr)Ba2Cu3O7 Superlattices: Raman scattering by ‘Forbidden’ phonons
1997
Abstract Raman results of ultrathin layer high Tc superlattices ( Y m Pr 1 )Ba2Cu3O7 (m = 2, 3, 4) exhibit a common feature: new peaks, absent in the bulk compounds. These peaks are attributed to oxygen B1u symmetry modes confined in the YBa2Cu3O7 layers. To explain their Raman activity a mechanism based on the asymmetry of crystal field at Y-Pr layer interfaces is proposed.
Symmetry breaking in a constrained cheeger type isoperimetric inequality
2015
We study the optimal constant in a Sobolev inequality for BV functions with zero mean value and vanishing outside a bounded open set. We are interested in finding the best possible embedding constant in terms of the measure of the domain alone. We set up an optimal shape problem and we completely characterize the behavior of optimal domains.
Fluctuation-dissipation relations for Markov processes.
2005
The fluctuation-dissipation relation is calculated for stochastic models obeying a master equation with continuous time. In the general case of a nonstationary process, there appears to be no simple relation between the response and the correlation. Also, if one considers stationary processes, the linear response cannot be expressed via time-derivatives of the correlation function alone. In this case, an additional function, which has rarely been discussed previously, is required. This so-called asymmetry depends on the two times also relevant for the response and the correlation and it vanishes under equilibrium conditions. The asymmetry can be expressed in terms of the propagators and the…
Non-circular rotating beams and CMB experiments
2002
This paper is concerned with small angular scale experiments for the observation of cosmic microwave background anisotropies. In the absence of beam, the effects of partial coverage and pixelisation are disentangled and analyzed (using simulations). Then, appropriate maps involving the CMB signal plus the synchrotron and dust emissions from the Milky Way are simulated, and an asymmetric beam --which turns following different strategies-- is used to smooth the simulated maps. An associated circular beam is defined to estimate the deviations in the angular power spectrum produced by beam asymmetry without rotation and, afterwards, the deviations due to beam rotation are calculated. For a cert…
Magnetic fields and chiral asymmetry in the early hot universe
2016
In this paper, we study analytically the process of external generation and subsequent free evolution of the lepton chiral asymmetry and helical magnetic fields in the early hot universe. This process is known to be affected by the Abelian anomaly of the electroweak gauge interactions. As a consequence, chiral asymmetry in the fermion distribution generates magnetic fields of non-zero helicity, and vice versa. We take into account the presence of thermal bath, which serves as a seed for the development of instability in magnetic field in the presence of externally generated lepton chiral asymmetry. The developed helical magnetic field and lepton chiral asymmetry support each other, consider…
Linear response theory in asymmetric nuclear matter for Skyrme functionals including spin-orbit and tensor terms II: Charge Exchange
2019
International audience; We present the formalism of linear response theory both at zero and finite temperature in the case of asymmetric nuclear matter excited by an isospin flip probe. The particle-hole interaction is derived from a general Skyrme functional that includes spin-orbit and tensor terms. Response functions are obtained by solving a closed algebraic system of equations. Spin strength functions are analyzed for typical values of density, momentum transfer, asymmetry, and temperature. We evaluate the role of statistical errors related to the uncertainties of the coupling constants of the Skyrme functional and thus determine the confidence interval of the resulting response functi…
A line-shape analysis for spin-1 NMR signals
1997
An analytic model of the deuteron absorption function has been developed and is compared to experimental NMR signals of deuterated butanol obtained at the SMC experiment in order to determine the deuteron polarization. The absorption function model includes dipolar broadening and a frequency-dependent treatment of the intensity factors. The high-precision TE signal data available are used to adjust the model for Q-meter distortions and dispersion effects. Once the Q-meter adjustment is made, the enhanced polarizations determined by the asymmetry and TE-calibration methods compare well within the accuracy of each method. In analyzing the NMR signals, the quadrupolar coupling constants could …
Kerr Optical Frequency Combs With Multi-FSR Mode Spacing in Silica Microspheres
2021
We experimentally demonstrate Kerr optical frequency combs (OFCs) with mode spacing of 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8 free spectral ranges (FSRs) corresponding to 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 2, 2.4, and 3.2 THz, respectively, in silica microspheres pumped by CW C-band lasers in the anomalous dispersion range. Experimental realizations are based on using standard telecom equipment and components such as SMF-28e fiber for producing microspheres and fiber tapers for pump coupling and OFC outcoupling. Numerical simulation is performed to support the experimental results and explain the observed spectral asymmetry in OFCs by the influence of the 3rd-order dispersion.
Economic reasoning and creative industries progress
2017
ABSTRACTThis article offers a theoretical discussion on how major neoclassical economic theory assumptions blur the understanding of creative industries. By distinguishing between creative-rational and creative-intuitive industries, with different compositions of commercial and cultural attributes, we particularly show how the latter sector has characteristics and dynamics that are incompatible with a theory based on preference rationality, profit maximisation and equal access to information among actors. When customer utility is composed of economic, as well as aesthetic, spiritual, social, historical, symbolic and authenticity values, then all these will affect customers' willingness to p…
