Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is a rare and aggressive endocrine tumor with highly undifferentiated morphology. It has been suggested that cancer stem cells (CSCs) might play a central role in ATC. Lake Albufera and the surrounding rice field waters are subjected to very heavy loads of sewage and toxic industrial residues, including heavy metals, from the many urban and waste waters of this area. The American red crayfish, Procambarus clarkii have a high resistance to toxic effects of heavy metals. The sublethal effects of heavy metals on gills of fish and aquatic invertebrates have been extensively studied. Some metabolic disturbances and histologic damages have been reported, as well as osmoregulation alterations. ATP-dependent nucleosome-remodeling enzymes and covalent modifiers of chromatin set the functional state of chromatin. However, how these enzymatic activities are coordinated in the nucleus is largely unknown. We found that the evolutionary conserved nucleosome-remodeling ATPase ISWI and the poly-ADP-ribose polymerase PARP genetically interact. We present evidence showing that ISWI is target of poly-ADP-ribosylation. Poly-ADP-ribosylation counteracts ISWI function in vitro and in vivo. Tomēr mūsdienu tendences gan caur Kriminālprocesa likuma grozījumiem, gan caur tiesību literatūru un tiesību speciālistu paustajiem viedokļiem rāda, ka notiek atkāpšanās no kriminālprocesa obligātuma principa, ieviešot lietderīguma principa iezīmes, tajā pašā laikā saglabājot kriminālprocesa obligātuma principu kā absolūtu pamatprincipu. A missense mutation in the gene encoding the alpha(2) Subunit of the Na+,K+ ATPase pump (ATP1A2) was found in a family with both familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM) and Benign Familial Infantile Seizures (BFIC). As it is still unclear whether ATP1A2 is responsible for pure BFIC syndromes, we checked mutations of the ATP1A2 gene in probands of 12 Italian multiplex families with pure BFIC, who were negative for mutations in the SCN2A gene. Abstract Familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM) is an autosomal dominant form of migraine with aura. The disease is caused by mutations of at least three genes among which two have been identified, CACNA1A and ATP1A2. Very few mutations have been identified so far in ATP1A2. We screened the coding sequence of ATP1A2 in 26 unrelated FHM probands in whom CACNA1A screening was negative. A total of eight different mutations were identified in 11 of the probands (41%), including six missense mutations, one small deletion leading to a frameshift, and one in frame deletion. An Italian family with familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM) with the absence of mutations in the known genes associated with this disorder, namely ATP1A2, ATP1A3, CACNA1A, and SCN1A, has recently been reported.
