Kinetic modelling of the Zymomonas mobilis Entner-Doudoroff pathway: insights into control and functionality.

Zymomonas mobilis, an ethanol-producing bacterium, possesses the Entner-Doudoroff (E-D) pathway, pyruvate decarboxylase and two alcohol dehydrogenase isoenzymes for the fermentative production of ethanol and carbon dioxide from glucose. Using available kinetic parameters, we have developed a kinetic model that incorporates the enzymic reactions of the E-D pathway, both alcohol dehydrogenases, transport reactions and reactions related to ATP metabolism. After optimizing the reaction parameters within likely physiological limits, the resulting kinetic model was capable of simulating glycolysis in vivo and in cell-free extracts with good agreement with the fluxes and steady-state intermediate …

Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Somu zīmolu atpazīstamība Latvijas iedzīvotāju vidū”. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot patērētāju viedokli par zīmoliem Fazer un Lumene un novērtēt to atpazīstamību Lavijas iedzīvotāju vidū. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no trīs daļām: teorētiskās daļas, metodoloģiskās daļas un empīriskās daļas. Teorētiskā daļa sastāv no divām galvenajām nodaļām: zīmols un tā atpazīstamība, somu zīmoli Fazer un Lumene. Kā pētniecības metode tiek izmantota aptauja interneta vidē. Šī darba mērķis ir noskaidrot uzņēmuma “Fazer” maizes zīmola atpazīstamību maizes lietotāju vidū un izpētīt kas to ietekmē. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no trīs daļām - teorētiskās, metodoloģiskās un empīriskās daļas, kā arī secinājumiem. Little is known about P-31 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of diseased human hearts. Methods-Two donor hearts meeting the requirements for heart transplantation and 11 diseased hearts were removed during a transplantation procedure and were studied in a horizontal 2-35 T superconducting magnet. Background: Peroxisomal ABC transporters are predicted to function as homodimers in mammals. [br/] Results: ABCD1 interacts with ABCD2. Chimeric proteins mimicking full-length dimers represent novel tools for functional study. Artificial homodimers and heterodimers are functional. [br/] Conclusion: Interchangeability between ABCD1 and ABCD2 is confirmed, but PUFA transport depends on ABCD2. Cyclopropane Fatty Acid Synthase from Oenococcus oeni: Expression in Lactococcus lactis subsp. Cremoris and Biochemical Characterization

Bacterial cyclopropane fatty acid synthases (CFA synthases) catalyze the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet) to the double bond of a lipid chain, thereby forming a cyclopropane ring. CFAs contribute to resistance to acidity, dryness, and osmotic imbalance in many bacteria. This work describes the first biochemical characterization of a lactic acid bacterium CFA synthase. We have overexpressed Oenococcus oeni CFA synthase in E. coli in order to purify the enzyme. The optimum cyclopropanation activity was obtained at pH 5.6 and 35.8 °C. Maģistra darbs izstrādāts latviešu valodā, uz 40 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 21 attēlu, divas tabulas un 31 atsauci uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis: novērtēt akomodācijas atpalikšanu ar dažāda dizaina kontaktlēcām pie dažādiem akomodatīvajiem stimuliem. Pētījumā dalībnieki: 15 emetropi vecumā no 22 līdz 28 gadiem ar refrakcijas sfērisko ekvivalentu no -0,50 D līdz +0,50 D. Pētījumā tika izmantota PowerRef 3, ar iekārtu tika mērīts acs akomodācijas atbilde 40 cm un 25 cm, izmantojot sfēriskās un dažāda dizaina multifokālās kontaktlēcas. Rezultāti tika salīdzināti pēc iegūtās akomodācijas atpalikšanas bez korekcijas un ar kontaktlēcām, lai noteiktu dizaina efektivitāti un multifokālo kontaktlē…
Akomodācijas atpalikšanas saistība ar nespecifisku tuvuma darba diskomfortu

Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā, uz 58 lapām. Tas satur 27 attēlus, 7 tabulas, 3 pielikumus un 52 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis: novērtēt akomodācijas atpalikšanas un citu redzes funkciju raksturojošo parametru saistību ar nespecifisku tuvuma darba diskomfortu. Metode: Akomodācijas atpalikšana tika mērīta ar Shin–Nippon SRW–5000 atvērta skata autorefraktometru 3 attālumos (40 cm, 30 cm un 34 cm), gan binokulāri, gan monokulāri. Subjektīvo simptomu novērtēšanai tika izmantotas CISS un Conlon aptaujas anketas. Akomodācijas atbildes līknes slīpuma koeficienta novērtēšana miopijas gadījumā

Darbs uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 37 lappusēm. Tas satur 16 attēlus, 6 pielikumus un 70 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis: novērtēt, kā miopijas pakāpe ietekmē akomodācijas atbildes līknes slīpuma koeficientu. Eksperimenta dalībnieki: 10 miopi ar refraktīvo kļūdu no -1.0D līdz -5.0D vecumā no 19 līdz 25 gadiem. Metode: ar 2 izveidotām optiskām shēmām tika mērīts acs akomodācijas atbildes līknes slīpuma koeficients, izmantojot tīklenes atstarošanās refleksa metodi. Rezultāti tika salīdzināti metožu starpā, ar ideālo akomodācijas atbildes līkni, kā arī ar retinoskopiju, lai noteiktu metodes pielietojumu ikdienā.
