Motherhood and Early Interaction in a Schizoaffective Patient: The Story of a Long-Term Psychotherapy
2010
This paper focused on motherhood in a patient with a schizoaffective disorder. The core of the treatment was to build a strong therapeutic alliance in which compliance with medication and elaboration of mental processes could be achieved. Pregnancy and motherhood are a time of crisis in the life of women. For the schizoaffective patient this crisis threatens the deepest level of functioning and challenges attachment patterns. Comprehensive treatment including psychosocial support, medication and psychotherapy is able to protect the baby to be, the early relationship between mother and baby, and the development of the child over time in this high-risk family. However, the commitment over yea…
Long-term effects on adult attachment in German occupation children born after World War II in comparison with a birth-cohort-matched representative …
2016
Children born of war are a phenomenon of every conflict. At the end of World War II and thereafter, approximately 400,000 children were fathered by foreign soldiers and born to local women in Germany. Quantitative research on psychosocial consequences of growing up as German occupation child (GOC) has been missing so far. This study examines adult attachment and its association with current depression in GOC (N = 146) using self-report instruments: Adult Attachment Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire. Data were compared to a birth-cohort-matched representative sample of the German population (BCMS; N = 786).GOC differ in both attachment dimensions (less comfortable with closeness/intimacy, l…
Five-Year Study of Implant Placement in Regenerated Bone and Rehabilitation With Telescopic Crown Retained Dentures: A Case Report
2009
Abstract Various implant-supported restorations have been used successfully for several decades to rehabilitate edentulous patients. Telescopic crowns are a common treatment modality used to connect dentures to natural teeth. Although previous findings indicate that telescopic crowns can be placed successfully on implants to support overdentures, only limited data are available on this treatment approach. Eight months after extraction of all nonsalvageable teeth and socket preservation, 11 implants were inserted into the mandible and maxillae of one patient. These implants were restored 4 months later using telescopic crown–supported dentures. Bleeding on probing (BOP), plaque index (PI), c…
Soft and hard tissue alterations around implants placed in an alveolar ridge with a sloped configuration.
2012
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate soft and hard tissue alterations around implants placed in healed, sloped ridge sites. Materials and methods: In this prospective multi-center study, 65 patients between 20 and 74 years of age and with a need for a single tooth replacement were included. All patients presented with a recipient implant site demonstrating a lingual‐buccal bone height discrepancy of 2.0‐5.0 mm and with a neighboring tooth on its mesial aspect. Implant placement (OsseoSpeed Profile implants; Astra Tech AB, M! olndal, Sweden) was performed using a non-submerged installation procedure. The implants were placed in such a way that the sloped part of the device was located …
Neurobiological signature of intimacy in anorexia nervosa
2019
Background Intimacy and psychosexual development represent core problems of anorexia nervosa (AN). Experiential and neurobiological evidence however is scarce. Material and methods Thirty-one female AN patients were compared with 35 non-patients (NP) and 22 recovered participants (REC) by using functional magnetic resonance imaging. Participants viewed pictures of couples in intimate relationships and control stimuli. Results AN patients experienced intimate stimuli with lower valence and dominance. AN showed decreased activation of parietal cortices. NP decreased the prefrontal cortex response, which AN patients did not. REC participants did not differ from NP on a behavioural level, thoug…
Perceptions Underlying Addictive Technology Use Patterns: Insights for Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
2022
International audience; Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is considered the ‘gold standard’ in the treatment of addictive disorders related to excessive technology use. However, the cognitive components of problematic internet use are not yet well-known. The aim of the present study was to explore the cognitive components, that according to problematic users, can lead to potential internet addiction. A total of 854 European adults completed an online survey using a mixed-methods design. Internet problems and attachment styles were assessed, prevalence rates estimated, correlations, chi-squared automatic interaction detection, and content analysis were performed. Self-reported addictions t…
Human breast areolae as scent organs: morphological data and possible involvement in maternal-neonatal coadaptation.
2006
In humans, areolar skin glands (AG) enlarge during pregnancy and lactation. Their role in mother-infant interactions may pertain to protective, mechanical, and communicative functions. It was questioned here whether more profuse AG could be related to more optimal adaptation to breastfeeding. A morphological study of the areolae was undertaken between birth and day 3 to assess the number, secretory status, and spatial distribution of AG. These data were related to infants' weight variation, mothers' perception of their infant's behavior at breast, and time between delivery and onset of lactation. AG were seen in virtually all women but with great interindividual variations; their areolar di…
Clinical evaluation of an Er:YAG laser combined with scaling and root planing for non-surgical periodontal treatment
2003
Changes in Periodontal Parameters and C-Reactive Protein After Pregnancy.
2016
This study assesses hormonal, inflammatory, and periodontal changes in pregnant women and postpartum in the absence of periodontal treatment, and seeks to determine any correlations among these parameters.A longitudinal, observational study of 117 pregnant women (aged 23 to 42 years) was undertaken in a private gynecologic center between weeks 32 and 35 of pregnancy and 6 to 8 weeks after delivery. Levels of progesterone and C-reactive protein (CRP) in plasma were determined, as well as periodontal indices, including: 1) plaque index (PI); 2) bleeding on probing (BOP); 3) probing depth (PD); and 4) clinical attachment level (CAL).Postpartum progesterone and CRP declined sharply from 90.85 ±…
State of the Art Literature Review on Network Anomaly Detection
2018
As network attacks are evolving along with extreme growth in the amount of data that is present in networks, there is a significant need for faster and more effective anomaly detection methods. Even though current systems perform well when identifying known attacks, previously unknown attacks are still difficult to identify under occurrence. To emphasize, attacks that might have more than one ongoing attack vectors in one network at the same time, or also known as APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) attack, may be hardly notable since it masquerades itself as legitimate traffic. Furthermore, with the help of hiding functionality, this type of attack can even hide in a network for years. Additi…
