Acogimiento en familia extensa: perfil psicosocial de las familias y de los menores acogidos

2021

[EN] Extended family foster care family is the most frequent protective measure for minors in Spain. The objectives of the present study are to analyze the family profile according to different dimensions, knowing the state of psychosocial health care of minors in foster care and study the relationship between family and minor variables. The sample consisted of 101 families and 121 minors between 6 and 17 years old (M = 10.07; DT = 3.92), living in the province of Valencia. The evaluation was carried out through individual interviews with every family. Results show good functionality of families taking into account the family climate, the level of stress, the educational styles and the supp…

2015

Since the percentage of single adults is steadily increasing, the reasons for this development have become a matter of growing interest. Hereby, an individual’s attachment style has come under close scrutiny in the context of its possible association to the partnership status. In the current study, a comparison of an individual’s attachment style, gender, age, education, and income was carried out in regard to the partnership status. Furthermore, an analysis of variance was computed to compare the attachment style within different groups. A sample of 1,676 representative participants between 18 and 60 years was investigated (M = 41.0, SD = 12.3); 54% were female, and 40% were single. Attach…

Squaric Acid Mediated Synthesis and Biological Activity of a Library of Linear and Hyperbranched Poly(Glycerol)-Protein Conjugates

2012

Polymer-protein conjugates generated from side chain functional synthetic polymers are attractive because they can be easily further modified with, for example, labeling groups or targeting ligands. The residue specific modification of proteins with side chain functional synthetic polymers using the traditional coupling strategies may be compromised due to the nonorthogonality of the side-chain and chain-end functional groups of the synthetic polymer, which may lead to side reactions. This study explores the feasibility of the squaric acid diethyl ester mediated coupling as an amine selective, hydroxyl tolerant, and hydrolysis insensitive route for the preparation of side-chain functional, …

Weighted Likelihood Function of Multiple Statistical Parameters to Retrieve 2D TRUS-MR Slice Correspondece for Prostate Biopsy

2012

International audience; This paper presents a novel method to identify the 2D axial Magnetic Resonance (MR) slice from a pre-acquired MR prostate volume that closely corresponds to the 2D axial Transrectal Ultrasound (TRUS) slice obtained during prostate biopsy. The shape-context representations of the segmented prostate contours in both the imaging modalities are used to establish point correspondences using Bhattacharyya distance. Thereafter, Chi-square distance is used to find the prostate shape similarities between the MR slices and the TRUS slice. Normalized mutual information and correlation coefficient between the TRUS and MR slices are computed to find the information theoretic simi…

Concise and modular synthesis of regioisomeric haptens for the production of high-affinity and stereoselective antibodies to the strobilurin azoxystr…

2011

The immune response to regioisomeric haptens of azoxystrobin with varied derivatization sites was studied. Based on the Sonogashira and Suzuki-Miyaura couplings and following a straightforward modular design, we have synthesized four haptens with the same linker anchored through C-C bonds and located at different sites of the molecule. The most stereoselective antibodies were produced from immunogens with the spacer arm at a distal position from the β-methoxyacrylate moiety characteristic of strobilurins. Moreover, we observed that assay cross-reactivity was reliant on the functionalization site of the competitor derivative. Finally, the antibody binding site was explored using synthetic ch…

Nothing matters: the significance of the unidentifiable, the superficial and nonsense

2019

ABSTRACT Purpose: The aim of this study is to explore the ways in which “small things” may be of importance for people with mental health difficulties. Method: Empirical material from three different studies was reanalysed through a phenomenological, dialogical, approach. Results: We discovered some paradoxical aspects of small things: i.e., they could be about “something” that was difficult or even impossible to identify. The unidentifiable could be about bodily, sensual experiences that are superficial (i.e., belonging to the surface). The interaction with others highlighted as significant could be about doing something fun, talking nonsense or kidding around, and hence not at all about m…

Polyethylenimine is a strong inhibitor of human papillomavirus and cytomegalovirus infection.

2012

ABSTRACT Polyethylenimines are cationic polymers with potential as delivery vectors in gene therapy and with proven antimicrobial activity. However, the antiviral activity of polyethylenimines has not been addressed in detail thus far. We have studied the inhibitory effects of a linear 25-kDa polyethylenimine on infections with human papillomaviruses and human cytomegaloviruses. Preincubation of cells with polyethylenimine blocked primary attachment of both viruses to cells, resulting in a significant reduction of infection. In addition, the dissemination of human cytomegalovirus in culture cells was efficiently reduced by recurrent administration of polyethylenimine. Polyethylenimine conce…

La vocalidad del violín en el norte de Italia en torno a 1600

2021

Throughout the present research I intend to demonstrate the powerful link between the vocal practice in accompanied monody and the way Early Italian violin music ought to be interpreted. Due to the scarce amount of articulation and ornamentation in this music, I consider that historical criteria should be found in order to back up the subjective choices in its performance. According to this, I focus on reviewing sources that describe the vocal practice around 1600, but also contemporary sources in which we can find instructions addressed to bow instruments. Besides, a catalogue of articulations and ornamentations present in early editions of printed violin music is attached. Last, I comment…
